My sons' PIR is Mar 30. He'll be going to Pensacola for A school. We bought him a watch when he graduated from high school. My wife says she read somewhere on N4M that watches can only have silver or black bands while in A school. My question is, is there any trueth to this? Her brother-in-law is a chief in the Navy, and he has told her it doesn't matter the color of it's band.
Dear David R,
Thank you for the response.
I really cant say, my son is a CTN2 and after almost 3 yrs is moving to another base.
David Thank you.
What happens after NAS?
She will be at NAS, as far as which barrack I have no idea, my guess is it would depend on which one has space when she arrives. Sorry not more helpful but son is at Corry.
Hello everyone,
My daughter is scheduled to graduate March 2 and her A school is here in Pensacola. as an AM (Aviation Structural Mechanic) does anyone know which base will she be assigned to as well as which barracks? She indicated that we (her parents) could visit her while she was in A school. (we live 10 driving hours south) She also indicated her school was 5 weeks. Does she go directly to C school after completion of A school? Thanks for having this opportunity for me (her dad)
Pam - when my son was at P'cola NAS he had a Chevalier Field mailing address part of the time there. There's a whole system they go through...when they can wear civies, go off base, etc....I'm not sure if they relax things during holidays. My first husband was Navy, but that seems like ages ago. The only time we ever missed a holiday with him was when he was a Persian Gulf Tour. We won't see our son this Turkey Day....he's stuck in OK. cuz he recently started up a new class. He has enough time built up, just can't leave right now. I have NO idea if we will see him for Christmas... :(
Thanks for the info I'm not sure what base he is at but i think it is Chevalier field This is all new to me at christmas would he be taking leave or is it liberty He said he only had but so many days a years.
The Navy is great, but don't count on seeing your loved ones on holidays. My sons been in three years and is ready to reup, but we havent seen him yet for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
A lot is going to depend on where he is at.............there are 3 bases in P'Cola. NAS - Corry - Whiting Field. As my son puts it NAS is really anal about everything, he did his A school at Corry and is now stationed there. I agree, no matter which base he is at, he will still be in phase one and unless they have some type of command approved/controlled activity that pairs the sailors with a family, he will be restricted to the base and will be eating on base and may even have duty over the weekend also.
