Our daughter got to Pensacola on April 18th.  She was fighting a nasty little bug before PIR, but gutted it out determined to PIR on 4/15.  Got to P'cola & sent directly to the doctor.  She's been SIQ ever since except for a day or two here and there.  Sounds like she is finally on the mend, though & eager to get classed up.

Randy - what is your Airman's rate? They all love P'cola!! Mine is AWV and loved it all down there. Worked out a lot, volunteered, played basketball, hit the beach and enjoyed the nightlife.
He recently finished SERE and is now at Tinker AFB training for the E-6B Mercury.
Good Luck to all your sailors!!!

We just spent a week in Pensacola visiting our daughter!  Lot's of things to see and do and most are free!  Be prepared to drive as nothing in that town is close to anything.  We took her car to her so that should help some.  We signed her out on Friday afternoon and she stayed with us until Sunday evening.  Great times!  She is supposed to be done on June 9th and should find out in about three to four weeks where her next destination is.  If you go there, you have to check out the Naval Aviation Museum as it is awesome!  We were lucky enough to see the Blue Angel's practice on Thursday.  It will be interesting to compare what we saw last week to the show they will put on here at home in June for the local airshow!

Well...married, leaving hubby and not feeling well make it a whole different thing. I feel for her. Between living in close quarters and their resistance no doubt being down, seems like many of them end up with a bug. Our son worked out with Navy Seals for 3 months before BC as he wanted to do nothing else but Aircrew. He was also 21, single and very social. Good luck to your daughter...she will be just fine and happy, too!!

Suzi...I can see that.  She was feeling pretty crappy - physically - coming down with a bug.  Also leaving her hubby behind.  She'll be fine, though.  Pretty amazing.  She was in a co-ed div as well, but most of the ppl she knew ended up doing A school in GL.

Grant...we had the opposite...when we dropped off our son in the parking lot at the base in GL we met some other parents and young men & women. Son had a co-ed division and they really bonded during BC. I watched them all walk off joking and back-slapping ....they had nicknames for each other and it was a world that I was a smaller part of now. I got into our vehicle and cried.

Have to agree with you guys....even though I'm a mom myself. LOL. I totally accept that he is an adult now and I love seeing his maturity and how he has grown since entering the Navy. I use to be a Navy wife....first two sons born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.....so I have a little more insight. But, I want all our children to know that we are interested in their lives and that we're always there for them. I learned quickly just how much contact my son liked and backed off to give him room. I also found out just how many question he'll answer before he shuts off.....so now I try to listen more and ask just enough to show him I'm interested.

Our daughter arrived in Pcola yesterday after PIR on 4/15.  She's SIQ for a couple of days.  It was tough to watch her walk away with tears in her eyes when we dropped her off for the last time at Great Lakes.  At least we can text, e-mail and talk on the phone.

Just wanted to agree with David R. some of the mom's are just MOM'S.

They want to see pictures and have a warm and fuzzy feeling.

My wife used to be that way and still is even after 17 years of being a Navy Mom.
