My son just left on Friday for C School in San Diego. He used a wireless adapter from Sprint and we were able to skype with him. I was nice to be able to talk (and see him) once in a while.

I think I'll tell my son to just tether his laptop to his cell phone (Verizon) instead. Free and fast!

Our son is currently there! (P-Cola) Yes, there is internet and it's a shared cost....30.00 sounds about right. It's not good service and we loose connection will him often. But our son says it's really boring without the service until school started. The cell phone has been alot better! He when with T-Moblie for cell service.

James,

It's been a few years since my son was in P'cola but I believe he and a couple of Sailors got together and split the cost of a wireless internet adapter when he was there. I think the adapters are around $30 a month. The poor reception on base could be because of all the aircraft flying in the area.

Anyone know about internet access at Corry Station? I came across an old post that said it was really bad there. Do sailors have to pay for their own internet? If so how much?

You got that right David R. I was just giving you guys the business. There seems to be a lot of over emotional moms there to tell you the truth. It is a little harder for than I thought it would be. My oldest son and I are close.

James............If you read most of those posts (the wife lives on Navy Moms) most of them are typical "picture on the fridge" type postings. Most of the dads I've met have come to terms with their sons/daughters having grown-up and become adults, and have their own careers/life now. My son PIR'd in 9/08 and is now a CTN2 stationed at Corry, since A/C schools he has been home only twice for a total of 3 weeks. Maybe because I am ex Army, I don't need to know  what he does or what  color the walls are in his room or if the bathroom was messy. Lets face it Moms are Moms and their baby will always be their baby even when their baby is 50.

My son will arrive at Corry Station at the end of May after his PIR from boot. His is a CTT. Your post are old on this site. Not too much activity here, you guys are laggin'. lol Navy for moms is kicking your butt.

My son Jon will be attending "A" school in May. His PIR is May 6th so he should be arriving on May 7th. He will be an Aviation Machinist Mate (AD).

Our daughter has been in Pensacola for two weeks and she just called to say she classed up today!  We were worried that she would be on hold for longer than this.  She seems to be adjusting well and has some good roommates.
