Hello out there....just popped in to see if the P'cola group was as active here as the one on N4M. My son is finishing up his A school in a week.

Thank you very much. He is en route to Pensacola so I will send him a text. I believe he knows about the USO but I'll make sure he does. You guys are awesome!!

Ruben:

Jim gave some good advice.  The USO is there as you exit the gates past security.  There are always sailors in the airport just ask some of them.

Hey Ruben,

I just gaot an email with your question about transportation from the airport to the base. Normaly there will be transportation arranged for those arriving from boot. Since your sailor is coming back off of leave I'm not sure how it will work. In any case his best bet is to check in with the USO at the Pensacola airport. They will know exactly what to do.

My sailor is returning from leave also. But, she's been there a while so transportation is on her.

Jim:

Thanks for the updated info.  I've been there a couple of times when my son lived on base.  But could not remember all those details.

You can drive your car on base.  Go to the main gate and tell them that you want to go to the museum.  Also on NAS there is Ft. Barackas(SP).  Can't quite remember how to get there but I think that it is on the road to the museum.  The guard should be able to tell you how to get there.  Any questions please let me know and I can find out

   Hello guys

I have a few questions. I'm driving down to pcola to pick up my son this week and I would like to known if I can drive on base with my car. I want to visit the navel museum and see the old fort there. Can I take pictures on the base? Does anyone know where the fort is at? I know where the museum is at but can't find the old fort on any map.

Hey Cora, We got it worked out so she can take the shuttle. I was trying to save her some money on the flights. In the end I decided to cover the cost to make it easier on her financaly and us on the drive to the airport (3 hours)

Sstephanie, I talked to my sailor. She thinks a lot of the problem is people don't stay busy. I'm surprised because theres so many things to volunteer for.

Hey Cora, I just questioned my son about the sailor that took his own life. I talked to my son on a regular basis and just like you said he had not mentioned it until I asked him about. Needless to say he wanted to know how I knew about it. I told him remember I am a member of Navy Moms and Dads!! After that I had a little talk to with him for love and support.

Jim:
There is an airport in Ft. Walton Beach/Destin. It is East of Pensacola.
Airport code is VPS
