As far as inspections go, tell your sailors to have their ties rolled at the NEX, costs roughly a buck, and have them rolled with dimes, not quarters. They'll know what you mean

what a coincidence, Suzi, so will MY son. :)

Awesome!!! My son starts back at phase one again today after finishing NACCS. I think it's a good thing....gives him a taste of restrictions again before getting his freedom back. He will be AWV.

Got to visit with Kyle last night, he looks good and seems to be liking the Navy life. He made phase three so I was able to bring him some civies. He was excited about that. He's enjoying the extra freedom also. Plans to take a trip with some friends next weekend and see some florida sights while he is there.

Yes Ryan......tell him to make sure he has his uniforms in tip top condition, not even a loose string....and his room immaculate. He has to pass these inspections to move up, too. Lynch just finished NACCS and will now be waiting to class up for A school. It's my understanding that at the end of NACCS he will find out for sure what his rate will be.

Yes, it is very common. He will be doing all kinds of other training in the mean time, like Financial planning, health, things like that. Plus they can't class up till they get finished with their security.

Got a call from my son John this evening,he PIR'd 9-17 with Div 316, he arrived at P-cola Wed, is getting settled into new barracks waiting to class-up. He has talked to others that have been there for more than a month and have not classed-up yet, is this common?

Kyle was telling me about the Blue Angels. I have an Uncle who once flew with them. Said it was the greatest honor of his Naval Career. I think he was a backup and never flew in a show but still an honor.

A visit to Pcola is a must if only for the museum. Weekend visits are fine as there's usually no class work going on, same with holiday weekends. I would hold off on the cell phones until they hit phase 2, just to let them get acclimated with the place.
I'm only 7 hours away so we went up there a few times, once for his birthday with some shipmates..... On Labor Day weekend NAS Pcola is almost a ghost town.
Have your kids called you yet gushing about watching the Blue Angels practice? Tues and Thurs are usually practice days
The big joke up there is asking the AO's what comes after "3" (answer is "lift", as in a bomb)
