think of it like this:

RTC - High Shool...general education about the Navy
A-School - college...specific education for a specific job
C-school - grad school...specific education for a specific job task

All Sailors go through A school after boot camp. Only a few go to C school, it's advanced training for special programs. Most sailors go straight to Fleet from A school. It can take a while to get deployed once they graduate A school, I've heard as much as two or three months sometimes.

how many different schools are there. a thru c. do they have to pass each school before they get deployed. are all the schools on the same base. my son told me from pensacola, he will be going to seattle washington. is there a school there too or is that his future base where he will be stationed?

My son graduated A school on 7/29 and did not leave P'cola till the end of August. He took leave to go to WA state for 2 weeks to visit his father. And now he is in Lemoore,CA awaiting the start of C school.

As of October 1 we (the Government) will be under a CRA, Continuing Resolution Authority, basically a temporary budget to keep things running until the Administration can pass a budget. There may not be much movement until that happens. Welcome to the life of working for Uncle Sam, haha. I deal with this every year.

I hear a lot of sailors are being put on hold because of the end of the pyhsical year.

There is a pecking order as to where your station will be. Top of the list or class gets first choice and so on, but all that can go out the window based on the needs of the Navy. Some of that takes time, but p-cola is really not to bad a place to be stuck in right now
