Holly sent me pic with her phone today. The MWR arranged a trip to Disney World for a bunch of the sailors. I'm glad the Navy is taking care of morale issues while these guys are busting there rear ends at A School.

My second Navy son Joel graduated on 8/28/09 as well. He is on hold for a ENT exam the 11th. He will then head to P-cola for the AV (Air Crew) program. I can only hope he gets a great room like that. The being on hold is killing him.

Well my son (Brandon) and nephew Jeremy graduated 8/28/09, and have now joined the Pensacola group. They both love it there. They started classes as of yesterday in the A2E program. They have gone from one extreme to the next. Boot camp to one room apartment like rooms with walk in closets and flat screen tv's and more..........And the weather..love it.

Hi Sandy, will do. Sounds like you'll be getting a pretty darn good Christmas present this year!!! Best wishes to Molly in her studies.

Out of the blue Molly classed up, someone didn't show apparently ans she was able to start yesterday instead of three weeks from now. That's great because she will graduate right before Christmas and get to come home either that week or the next.
Great news Kirk I know you are really excited to see her and give her a big hug, tell her congrats from me when you see her.

We're all getting pretty excited here! Holly graduates from A School on the 10th and gets to come home for 2 weeks before heading off to the USS Abraham Lincoln for her first deployment. I get messages from her almost every day as she too counts down the days. It sounds like her training will be a lot of OJT once she gets on the ship but right now they're studying every day and taking tests every other day. Even though she started boot camp as a "Fish out of water" she seems to have settled into the Navy life and is looking forward to the next step in her career.

Just got back from Pensacola (Corry Station) had a great time. We stayed at the Navy Lodge and dropped Molly's car off to her and had a blast when we able to see her, she had duty Saturday so could not leave the base but we were able to spend a few hours with her there and Friday and Sunday spent some quality time off of the base. Thanks to two fine gentlemen from Georgia who pulled my wife and I out of the sand on Pensacola Beach and would not take the $20 we tried to give them. So even though the sand looks hard if there are no other cars pulled off of the road don't try it!

Otto; thanks if it is on the beach... count me in.

Kirk, yes I understand that and we would not go if we thought it would be a distraction. We would like to visit the area anyway, and if Brendan gets time to see us, well then all the better... :-)

I've been reading a lot about people wanting to go visit their kids at A School so I thought I'd share this. Two of my brothers were in A School back in the '80s and they said it was extremely tough. 7 hours a day in the classroom plus another 2-3 of homework every night. One was in for missile tech training and the other was in the Air Force for satellite communications but they both said it was about the same. My brother in the AF even said that they discouraged married Airmen from bringing their spouses because of the time demands of the training. He said that most who did bring them failed A School. I can see going to visit if they're waiting to class up but otherwise I think it's just a distraction they don't need. I talked to Holly about it and while she wouldn't tell me not to come I can tell that she was relieved to have an out. She's training for ABE and I don't think that it has near the demands of some of the high end electronics/avionics training. I'm not telling people what to do but after speaking with my brothers I'm glad I spoke with Holly about it before just telling her I was on my way.

John G, P-cola area is just great, pretty much year round. The Air Museum is fantastic and many other places to see. You'll enjoy it.
