Interesting article on the front page of the NASP base newspaper, Gosport, about cutting wait time for A schools link: http://gosport.pensacolanewsjournal.com/latest.shtml

That's correct...make sure they are off base at Great Lakes for the last time on their way to the next duty station. Had to send my son his laptop since we had so very little time between PIR and him leaving. He was in P-cola the same day he graduated boot camp. Did slip him his cell phone at the airport.

Once they get to the airport after BC PIR you can give them both the phone and cell. Thats we did with our son. Just remember they can't have either at BC even after PIR.

Yes he can have a cell phone, I bought my son Cameron, the net book from Version, he can skyp or use his computer any where.

Still just getting used to the idea of boot camp, but does anyone know if in Pensacola while at "A" school if the sailors can have their computers with them... or their cell phones?? I know these are questions my recruit will be asking... PIR at RTC looks to be 10-2

be happy they're at p-cola. once they finish school, they'll get stationed somewhere, and then get deployed. Try to find Djibouti on the map. Thats about 20klicks from one of my favorite places, lol, but there's a good chance that my son will be there shortly. if you ask me, I'd take p-cola on a bad day in the hot sun. be thankful they're in the good old USA. God bless all

My son was at P-cola nearly 8 weeks before starting his classes. It's a pretty common thing. Gotta remember it's the Navy, and they put people where they want them, WHEN they want them. Actually, it is a matter of available positions up the line in the Fleet.

Wow! Holly must be really lucky. She's been at Pcola since 7/17/09 and she classed up a couple of weeks ago. She's doing AWAT training now and she starts ABE training on the 17th. If all goes well, and depending on what her orders are, she'll be home for leave on 9/10/09 for two weeks.

Cameron has been since June 18 and he might start later in the year, he is just keeping his nose clean.

Pensacola A School, or should I say wait school, Molly has been down there since a few days after PIR 7/24/09 and still hsa no idea when her class will start. Her 15 week class has been taking anywhere from 8 to 12 months for the people now graduating. The big problem for kids in the teens and twenties is this leaves lots of time to get in trouble, hear is hoping yours and mine avoid that trap.
