Both NAS and Corey Station have websites on line, easy way is to google them. Both can found on google earth also, if you want a good look.

Where is the best place to go on line to learn about the surrounding area for Pensacola?? My son will be coming there in about 9 weeks, and any information I can get will be very helpful!! Thanks anyone and everyone!!

Just got back from P-cola from a weekend visit with my son. The NAS has never looked better. The old historic district downtown looks great. P-cola is all decked out this week for it's 450th. birthday celebration, so if you live close by, now would be a good time to go. The Air Museum looks fantastic. Just a really enjoyable time with my son at A school. I'll have some unique pictures to post from the USS Alabama in a few days.

I attended A-School in Pensacola (Corry Station) back in 1984. The majority of my training/classes were eves (1500-2300). While other Sailors were mainly day students. It makes sense, double your through put with same footprint.

Robert M.:

My Son is AIRR-ATF. He arrived in Pensacola 26JUL09. He's in hold status awaiting Aircrew training. Talked to him on Tuesday he was enjoying the PT.

Kirk-
Your presumption is correct. There is a backlog of students and a shortage of instructors so they are doubling up on the classes.

I swapped some messages with Holly today and I learned something interesting. She classed up on Thursday and starting today her classes all run 3:00pm to 11:00pm, M-F with weekends off. I never really thought of it before but they must have quite a few students if they're running night classes. Either that or they're going to start getting them used to working rotating, around the clock shifts.

The clothing allowance typically is paid on the anniversary of the day members entered the military. People with fewer than three years of service receive a basic clothing allowance to begin replacing items from their initial issue as they wear out. Also, at the end of the first year of active duty, enlisted troops receive only half of the yearly allowance because it is assumed they do not need to replace any clothing in their first six months.

They do get a clothing allowance per month, I'm not sure how much it is, I know back when I was in it was enough to buy about 2 sets of jungles and a set of kahkis a year. That was about $50.00, in todays m0ney that would be $25,000... lol
