Michael, coming out of RTC, the LPO's and CPO's always have these dates they give out...." you start this on this date, you go to here on this date and then ship out on this date"... needless to say it is a rare rare circumstance when your sailor will actually do those things on that date. About the only date that is certain is PIR, and if they tell you they are grad-n-go, usually count on that too. The needs of the Navy will determine your sailor's schedule from here on out. I hope your son stays on that schedule, but just be prepared, sometimes they "hold up" in P-cola for awhile before they get going out to the fleet. Look at it this way, there are lots of other places he could be that are not as nice as P-cola. Vacation bound civilians pay thousands of dollars for the view your son will have while he is there.

What is your son going to specialize in at A school

My son will be heading to A school on 8/12, then wait until 8/23 for school to start. He is supposed to be in Japan by 9/30, so I guess he won't ot too long.

Robert-
Kirk is right. James waited to class up for a long time. There were short term classes but it was a long wait. Lots of barraks duty and mustering. It is all part of the game. Patientence and keeping their nose clean will reap rewards later. My son graduated earlier this month and just got his destination and travel orders. He got his first choice and the squadron he wanted. He finished 6th in his class and 4 in front of him did not get their first choice because of infractions while they were in P-cola. Classing up will happen. Remember this is a long term investment for your sailor and for the Navy. Be supportive.

He is doing good, now that he has his PS3 and his T.V. and netbook. It makes it a lot eaiser, getting to see him using Skype. Cameron told me he is going on kayaking on Saturday with one of the clubs.

Good morning. Congrat on those that have classed up-prayers for those that need to class up. I hope you are all doing well. Have a great weekend.

Hi Robert, here seems to be a lot of that going around. Holly's been there since the 17th of this month and they were told last Friday they would class up this week. Guess what hasn't happened yet? I work with a former Petty Officer and he was telling me it was exactly the same when he was in. He got out about 10 years ago and he said it was the same for all of his schools. Hurry up and wait. He did get quite good at striping parking lots though! Snicker snicker! Lots of "Make-work" goes on apparently.

Molly is tellimg me the horror stories, she has mket several people in her rate that will graduate in a few weeks and they have been there between 10 and 12 months and the school is 16 weeks, they spent a lot of time cleaning and doing nothing. Molly saaid she was volunteering for Habit for Humanity but that is on Saturdays only. Keep you informed.

My son cameron has been a A school for almost a month. It sounds like all he is doing is working, waiting for school to start.
