Rob, every branch of the military has what they call "non-deployable units". Simply stated they don't get deployed as their need is to be at a stationary position, like an air base, to serve the needs of the military. I'm assuming he will be at Lemoore NAS, which is a master jet base having responsibilities for all Pacific fighter/strike jets in the fleet. That being said, the unit is not deployed, but it doesn't mean an individual sailor can't be transferred out to a deployed unit. Over-all, I'd say this is a good thing.

Hi, my son just got his orders--he is finishing AO school and is being stationed in Fresno--in a non-deployable unit...What does this mean and is a good thing? Any insight would be greatly appreciated..Thanks, Rob

It all depends on what specialty he decides and where the Navy has the C school

Good morning. I hope all is well. I had a question, but think I found it in your posts. I was wondering if my son would be able to do C school in P''Cola as well. He is CTT and just started A school four days less than a month ago. Have a great day!
