Congrat, Mike! Like you, I am facing the issue of calls from Japan. My son ships out this Sunday for Sasebo aboard the USS Tortuga. Where is the home port for the Essex? Japan seems to be very popular with everyone in P'cola according to my son.

Need a little help here. My son James is in his ATI school and is having trouble and is getting depressed about the whole process. He is afraid that asking for help will equal remediation and 3 remediations and he is out. I am trying to be supportive but since I am not well versed on the details of asking for assistance I don't know what to do to help him through this.
Any input or suggestions would be great.

join the navy and see the world. you know this has to be a heck of an adventure for these young men and women and all in the service of their country. It kind of makes me think that maybe we all should make it mandatory for some kind of public service prior to the long grind of a career. These young adults are getting experiences that are forever going to be etched in their memory banks. I cant wait to see where my son ends up after p-cola.

Congratulations, Ted! I know you are very proud of Chris and will be glad to see him. Kevin graduated A school a couple of weeks ago and called us early this morning to let us know he got his orders! He will be coming home in a couple of weeks and has been assigned to the USS Tortuga stationed in Sasebo, Japan. Well, he asked for Japan and he got his wish!

Well being ex-army NCO and as the kids say "been there, have the t-shirt to prove it" I had to try and explain the same types of thing to jr. enlisted more than once.

Thats what happens when sailors/service members dont read their orders completely.................live and learn. Had she taken the time to read her paperwork, she could have bought a ticket from p'cola to home and back and p'cola and still have spent her leave at home and saved everyone the money, stress and heartache.
