Cora, it sounds as if Brooklyn has had a heck of a time. My son has been in P'cola since January and just graduated A school on Friday. He hasn't gotten any orders or anything as of today. He said no one has been able to tell him anything at this point. I will keep the "fly now pay later" information as it sounds like it is well worth holding onto. Thanks for the info!

I don't think so.

Wow! My son just finished A School and will graduate this Friday (which we just found out about yesterday). He was hoping to be home on leave in about 4 weeks for his old Dad's birthday, but if he has to wait 3 or 4 weeks, he might not make it. Is this a normal hold time once our sailors graduate?

I think Zac had to wait 3 to 4 weeks to get orders, then another 2 for a flight out.

My son, Zac, finally left Pcola it route to Whidbey Island. WOOT!

My son Airman Ryan "Bubba" Browar just PIR'd on Friday and he arrived at NAS p'cola today. His A School, Air Crew Candidate, is to begin next Monday.
I'm interested in hearing any and all experiences from you salty dads.
Much appreciated!

If Brooklyn likes small towns she should like Oak Harbor. Seattle is a short ferry ride away. It is windy there as it is at the east end of the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

maybe it is a maintenance type of deal. the kitty hawk may be replacing the gw while it gets r and r or maybe the super hornet squadron could be set up for a support mission for the guys in afghanistan. There has got to be a logical reason

i'm happy for you. our son scott just came home from p'cola for eight days and is starting a school this week. we are anxious to see where he will be stationed. I myself think that every sailor should go to sea in the beginning and get to visit the different ports of call around the world. What an education!!! we are so blessed in these times to have our children in a great environment doing a public service and giving us a reason to make plans for out future to. It will just be nice to try to get to p'cola to visit and then who knows where. I think we have reason to be both proud and optimistic because I believe that these young adults in the Navy ( the greatest Navy in the world) will be our leaders tomorrow. Well, I have to go as I am substitute teaching today. Have a great day and keep us informed on the big japanese adventure. And i mean that! I just thought it kind of be crazy to sit down at a baseball game eating some sushi and drinking some sake. Seeya

i really don't know, but i'd carry plenty of nabs if you know what i mean. the best thing to do is have an open mind and participate in the culture. what do you think the japanese would think about grits and chitlins, not to mention cornbread, collards and black eyed peas with some side meat?
