I think are some special areas where things can be very cheap. I know there are some areas where you can get handmade mens suits extremely cheap and of high quality. I think you need to get your passport and make some memories of Japan with brooklyn.

Hey Cora, thats great news. These are the types of tour of duties our kid sign up for, not necessarily easy on us but part of the great adventure on the high seas. You made it through boot camp and now A school. While its not fun trust in God and keep talking to the moms and dads.

HooYah Cora-- you join the Navy to see the world...Brooklyn is getting her chance from the get-go! Remember the "hello"s make the "goodbye"s worthwhile........

I'm guessing our sailors will be getting most of their training in the fleet. I see where Brooklyn will be out of A school March 24, before enlisting my son took airframe mechanics, which required a years worth of curriculum before he would be qualified to take his FAA exam. My son also will be going to Pcola for AD after his PIR om March 20.

Way to go Brooklyn! We're all rooting for you to get that gig with the Blue Jets!!

Ted, you are correct...CBT is Computer Based Training. I know these young sailors want to get out of school and onto their permanent assignment, but they will keep them busy. Kevin has had PT after class and tonight is having "General Military Instruction" which is really whatever topic the Petty Officer wants to go over. So far he has had a class on finances and responsibile drinking.

Ted, my son is also an IT at Corry. He said his classes were all CBT and self-paced. Kevin said he has (I think) 105 CBT courses in his field. He is given a goal every Monday as to where he should be by end of class on Friday. So far, so good according to Kevin. He is about 3 days ahead of schedule. He wanted to have class yesterday so he could keep going, but since it was a holiday he had liberty....and complained about it!

Sounds like definate candidate for the stimulus package, but I guess that's another story. Trust me, I think our guys can make it. Seems like a lot of trust going around these days. Maybe we should be trusting a higher authority if you know what I mean.

For those that dont know, if your sailor is a CT_ or an IT_ rate, they arent really stationed at NAS Pensacola............they are at Corry Station. I am there tonight as son graduates "C" School in the morning and is coming home for 2 weeks and has to bring all his junk home with him (he has to take it all back down here in 2 weeks, but thats another story). As modern and great NAS is Corry is at the other end of the scale, there are a few modern buildings, but most look like they were rehabed by folks from a high school trades program. His "dorm room" was old, dark, and plastering job was poor to say the least and they are so backed up they are adding beds in some rooms. Atleast when he gets back he will move into better living quarters.
