I can certrainly understand your frustration at having your sailor not class up on a timely schedule...kinda like having various high schools graduate every week and expecting USC or UCLA to start classes every two weeks in response. I'm sure the resources at Pensacola are finite and they try to fit the influx of students into classes as best as possible.

Rick i agree with you about the troops coming from bootcamp to A school. My son is proud to be in the Navy and when he left for Aschool 4hours after PIR i think he expected to class up and get learning to be an AO. He is glad to be in Florida instead of Chicago!

My son is waiting a pcola too, but there's a possibility that there is some method to their madness. How long did the guys have to wait before D--day? They say that flying a plane is sheer until something goes wrong then its months maybe years of sheer boredom surrounded by minutes or seconds of sheer terror. I think its important for our sons and daughters to get comfortable with their environment. Afterall, not to long ago we were complaining about intense training 24/7. It will all work out or at least I hope it will. I am just thankful that they are where they are and that when their classes start that they are all ready to achieve at the highest level.

My daughter has been at Corry Station since Dec 5th, she has her badge and is waiting to class up also. Seems like there are alot of sailors down there making pretty good money and benefits for doing busy work. My daughter is bored and ready get on with it. I don't know why they don't have a little better handle on bringing troops in to Bootcamp so they have an A school close to starting when they get there.

JohnM--- I am SOOOO glad you said that...after having two go to the fleet I got pretty used to the emails complaining about "cranking".......all must pay their dues! Paul

Looks like we are all pretty much in the same boat( No pun intended). My daughter has been there at Corry Station since October. Yes she feels as though she is a professional cleaning person (she wasn't very good at this at home so a good lesson). She is bored to death but is so very anxious to class up. We just continue to reminder her of all the positive aspects there are and how much better off she will be in 4 years. We remind her of all the excitment that lies ahead and the reason she enlisted in the first place (to serve her GREAT Country).Right now its pretty darn tough being fresh out of school as a civilian trying to find work and so on. So i think she is coming around with her attitude. I do however feel for all of you, it's extremely tough as being the parent with no controll. At least it is for me being somewhat of a control freak.

It' kind of like climbing a mountain. When you're ascending you just have to stay focused on reaching the top, and then remind yourself that it's harder staying on the top than getting there.

my son just got in pcola in late dec. he made the comment that at GL they had every minute of the day planned and at pcola they kind of let you initiate (he thinks) some of the action. Has your son been through the 3 training courses there yet?

My son has been in Pensacola since December 5th, he's in navy limbo waiting to start class for AO's, he's anxious to get started but there class schedule is on a need to know basis, and i'd like to know.

Cora.............as an old Army Grunt, I know what you mean by the Navy's form of hurry up and wait, my grey hair got worse. My son is at Corry Station, which is on the far west end of P'cola (he says it's in FloraBama) and he went through the same thing when he arrived last Sept., once A School started he actually had more free time to handle things. The hours seem to settle down and become stable. Before A school started, they found things to keep thembusy and out of trouble. With the power of Attorney, you might think about having it drawn up at home, send it to her and if she has off base privliges she can have it notorized and send it back...............a big pain I know but it will get done.
