Cora, All you have to do is get some Lexington BBQ, some slaw, a few hushpuppies, some pig pickin cake, and about a 55 gallon drum of some sweet tea, and you'll have those people in p'cola in the palm of your hand.

The son has been at Corry Station since 9/14/08. He's finished A school and is almost a month into C school. Came home Xmas Day then went back on 1/2/09..............Greyhound both ways. The wife is on navyformoms.........I tend not to read too many of the entries, I want to pull my hair out sometimes reading some of their comments.

Hello all,

With all due respect to the ladies who are members...it is nice to find a sight for Navy Dads to rival the estrogen filled Navyformoms.com. Not that there is anything wrong with that!

My son is in week four of RSS and I look forward to sharing info with you all.

Thanks, Brian

My son returned to Pensacola the Sunday before New Years...we really liked having him home... and well Navy changed him some but he still left his room a mess...go figure.. I guess he thinks his mom lives here or something. Well, she still keeps those blue candles burning and I have found out she bought all blue for next year... well there goes the checkbook and she wants me to outline a candle on the roof top after I get those decorations down...so the planes flying into SA can see the blue candle cause there might be a military kid on it. I think she has two umbrellas shy of a rainstorm going on in her head sometimes...but don't tell her that.... SHE IS A BLUE CANDLE MOM and never lets me forget it.

my son just arrived at p-cola and is also waiting for class to start, but says it is decent and it is nice to have a little more freedom. Has anybody looked into flying into mobile. I think the rates might be a little cheaper however a rent a car would probably be in order but you would need a car anyway

Cora give that sailor a big Navy Hug and enjoy every day with her... it's a Holiday with our kids anytime they come home.... just so happens Christmas is happening during this homecoming.

You guys are right the biggest difference between flying and riding the bus it was a few hours shorter but certainly not as cheap... My sons gf was to fly out this morning to Fresno and they messed up her flight and she can't leave till in the morning . He rode the bus to SA Texas from Pensacola...was much much cheaper,,,, takes as long for us to drive out to pick him up and becaue...NO FOG DELAY at the airports like they do sometimes...we all teased my wife about telling him to ride the bus but after the cancellations because of fog last week I have to back it up and admit maybe this once she was right... okay so I told ya'll that,,, it doesn't have to go any further.. besides I think she saved me some money too!

My son is coming home to Cleveland, OH via Greyhound because of the lack of flights out of Pcola and the outrageous cost of the few there are.
What is crazy is even though greyhound is almost 30 hours, with no flights after 6 pm out of Pcola coming this way, he will only be home a few hours later then flying with all the layovers and delays on the flights that were heading this way. The big diffference...............Greyhound was only about 200 round trip vs the 650 - 1400 to fly.

My son tried to leave Pcola, but flights are a nightmare I guess. He is now laying over in Fort Walton Beach for the night. They have change airlines on him and put him up in a hotel. Anyone else having trouble like that?
