Just crawled out of bed after several days of flu agony.  I guess they make a different strain of flu bug in Illinois that our tender California bodies can't handle.  PIR was amazing and I would like to write my review of our experience.  I will post it in the Boot Camp forum but I am guessing there might be a more appropriate place for it so the admins can move it if need be.

I fly to Chicago tomorrow morning, I CAN NOT WAIT for PIR !!!!!  I'm beyond excited and just beaming with pride.  Is anyone going to the Meet and Greet tomorrow evening ? I look forward to meeting everyone either there, or at PIR !

Great feeling isn't it?  Shane said 12 recruits did not pass one thing or another and are held back.  On the bright side, they will probably just be delayed a bit before they move on with everybody else.  He is stuffing his face with fast food now at some place they call "Recruit Heaven."

Got the call. Our grandson is officially a sailor.  Ship04 Div.083

Finally, a call.  Shane made it through, has his Navy cover, and passed all the tests.  I took the day off and have been sitting by the phone waiting for the call.  Now we prepare for PIR and can't wait.

Any calls yet after Battle Stations?

Jim, he is of course asking for his laptop and all the other comforts of home.  I am inclined to let him settle in first and then see what is practical and what is not.  I think we will bring his tablet and cellular phone because they are easy to pack and then play it by ear.  I'm willing to get up early to see him at the airport but we are lucky that Pt. Mugu is only 5 hours from our home and we can make arrangements for future meetings.  Do sailors get time off on the weekends?
