Navy Dads

My son's PIR is scheduled for October 1, 2010.  My wife and I are staying at the Fairfield Inn in Gurnee.  I understand there are shuttle services to/from local hotels to the RTC for the PIR.  Those of you who have used these shuttle services in the past, what shuttle companies did you use?  I'd like to go ahead and make reservations.

Thank you.

The wife and I drove back and forth, however our hotel provided the transport to and from PIR for those that wanted it. I would check with your hotel and see what the have to offer first.
contact your place of lodging....they deal with this all the time and can make arrangments for you....at least that is what I did.
You can either check with the front desk at the hotel or call their toll-free number and ask in advance. Some provide "free" shuttles, others count on independent taxi/shuttle services to supply the transportation. Back in April, we opted for an independent cab which was about $6 for the trip there. As your driver, if you use an independent service, will probably explain, you can't count on getting "him/her" again, because there are hundreds of them. One of the best things to do is talk with the people staying at your same hotel, and arrange to meet as a group afterward if you're going to use a shuttle. If you use a cab, the seating is limited. Charges should be about the same either way.

My son graduated on August 13, 2010. We used the shuttle that our hotel provided. We stayed at the
Spring Hill Suites. The shuttle was great. There was no extra waiting time going in and they were there
when we were leaving after graduation. The cost was $6.00 for my wife and I. Im sure that most if not
all the shuttles are quite good knowing that they do this week in a week out. Call your hotel and get an update on them. We left the hotel at 0630 hrs got there in pleanty of time. Was able to go thru security and then made the long haul to the Graduation building.

Our van cab from the Navy Lodge was $5.00.  It was easy.  They were lined up at the gate waiting to take us back when the ceremony was over.  PIR 2/5/10
