Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Merry Christmas everyone..... I have been listening from afar to what everyone has had to say and I am breaking one of my policies, not discussing politics and religion so lets see if i can not alienate ppl here!!

ctyankee,I have to agree with your last statement that there will be change, yet i personally feel that the system that we Americans know will continue to function. As soon as people can wake up and get the problem representatives voted out of office we can put those in that believe in putting the constitution first and foremost.

One of the other things that I have to disagree with is the comment by Rex which has to do with peaceful change, and I hope I am totally wrong on this, but I don't believe so.
This country was built on revolution and being told how we are gonna live our daily lives like we as a ppl. don't have the ability to make good decisions on our own is a bunch of B.S..I personally didn't ask for the government to be involved in my daily life and I sure as all He-- don't care for the ways they are trying to run my life and that of my family.
I think that the best way to bring about change in Government is thru the ballot box,but I also feel that is not going to work.It may be about time for a good old fashioned revolution against the political heads that are ruling, regulating, and taxing "We The People" to death.

Again,Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you folks!!!!!

ctyankee i agree, but i hope it will be a peaceful change, only time will see.
It wont be long now before the radicals on both sides will start to react on the current and up and coming situations.

As long as they act like all we want is bread and circuses, the republic will continue to deteriorate. At some point the system *will* fail, and bureaucracy be damned there will be change, whether they believe it or not.

And yes, kos is a liberal site -- but it's the only one that I found that polls on dems & repubs separately every week. Even if you correct for 4-5 points bias, the congressional republicans' popularity is down at the levels Yeltsin attained by the end of his Presidency, except in South (confederacy plus Kentucky), and even there they are negative. The numbers are bad for the dems, but worse for the repubs. So Ray Stevems may be right, but only in the Confederate States of America.

Hey Santa, could we have a cease-fire in the war on Christmas BS this year?

From Miss Manners:

Dear Miss Manners:

I work as a cashier during the Christmas season, and I often wish my customers "Happy holidays." Sometimes customers get all offended and reply with something like "I choose to celebrate Christmas," or they go into this long angry rant about the use of the word Christmas.

Am I wrong? "Happy holidays" is more of a habit for me than "Merry Christmas." I mean it as a gesture of goodwill, and am rather hurt to be yelled at for my choice of words.

But they mean it as a gesture of -- well, of what? The spirit of Christmas? Their interpretation of the proper Christian attitude toward those who wish them well?

Miss Manners realizes that those who deal with the public will encounter some nastiness, which professionalism requires them to ignore. But please do not allow the misuse of religion to browbeat others to make you doubt yourself. "Happy holidays" is the general greeting because, as you know, not all your customers are Christian, but they all do get legal holidays for Christmas and New Year's Day.
