Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Americans need to wake up! NJ voted out the incumbent Democratic Govenor and replaced him with a Republican because they wanted change. However, each member of the state assembly was re-elected. Rebuilding comes from the bottom up.

We need fresh new people to honor and believe in our constitution. it is not a DEAD piece of paper or something that is not relevant to this day and age .

Pat....my mom was born and raised in Germany and went through the post-WWI depression.....FAR worse than what was seen in the US....see told me once she remembers people literally using a wheelbarrow to haul worthless money to the market to try to buy a loaf of bread...she remembered a load costing a billion marks once....THAT is where we are heading if we don't step in and do something.

hey Maike....as an analytical chemist I too want the number to add up....and they don't and they won't at this rate. And if you want to be realistict...those tax increases will be huge and will have to last for far more than the next year or two..like forever......as will the budget cuts. The Navy will end up half the size is curently is...as will all the other armed forces. OBL will love that....social security will go away...medicare will go away....elder care will go away unless you are rich...and our infrastructure will continue to fail and fall apart...... the math is inescapable.

Perhaps the balanced budget is why President Clinton left office with popularity that matched how Reagan left office, despite his zipper problems? I'm more liberal than most of you lot, but above all I'm an engineer who wants to see the numbers add up. There is some element of desperate times calling for desperate measures in our current economic situation, but I see both budget cuts and tax increases a year or two into the future. The winner of 2010 elections will be a minor influence -- the math is inescapable.
