Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Amen to that Michele.

A few quotes:

“Think twice before you speak, because your words and influence will
plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of another.”

"Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some
kind of battle."

Bush has nothing to loose now, his terms have been served. Why weren't these things said during his first term? Everything eventually comes out, yes, but at the right times. Times when it suits their careers. . . look at all the dirt that is still being dug up on past presidents, the media is hushed so much, as are the game players. Even when things are leaked most politicians walk away with a slap on the hand and the person that leaks it is never identified, you don't find this ironic?

WowI , now I also believe that Bush is a total idiot. For Bush to filter the Media and have him say the things that are said of him are unbelievablle.

Michele with all due respect to your friend, I disagree with this statement. This might be so in Communist Cuba or China but not in the United States.

Luis - That is interesting, I did like Colin Powell also for many years. . .when the crinkle came with me was when he dissed the public by not gracefully turning down a chance at running for President. I don't remember his exact words but it looked as though his supporters weren't important.

Kenorian - I do find that Reuters does 'tell it like it is' without the spins :).

Luis - How funny that this morning I woke up to Fox News, yesterday morning I woke up to CBS's news. . . .I hear all sides and really I don't hear many differences. I was told by a very informed elderly friend (they passed about 5 yrs. ago), our media is filtered by the White House and never forget that. I see this statement to be truer each day.

I am 100% Pro-Life so I really didn't care for Colin Powell going back awhile. He has the right to endorse whoever he wants but he took it a step too far when he said that he couldn't see the Supreme Court with two more Republicans.

If not for Reagan, Bush Sr and W Bush, Colin would be just another person. These three presidents put him where he is today and he then throws them under the bus. I thank Colin Powel for his military service to our country. As a politician I have no respect for him.

I also feel that he endorsed Obama to save his own political skin.

Luis - I am curious, what were your views and feelings when Colin Powell endorsed Obama last week?

*Reminder: I am not endorsing any candidate as of yet.

Michele, if you can avoid NBC and MSNBC I would highly recommend it. Oh I forgot CNN as well. I think that Bill O'Reilly is pretty fair as is Greta Van Susteren from Fox News.

Personally I am a Rush Ditto Head and I listen to Sean Hannity.

Just my $0.02. Luis
