Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Bravo Kenorian- I'm reminded of a corollary from music- that there can't be any harmony if everyone is playing the same note! Thank goodness we have young people that are willing to step forward and defend our right to openingly have these discussions. Suffice it to say that the US is unique in it's ability to decide it's leadership based on the will of the people and not a select few as is the case in most of the rest of the world.

Whenever there's a passionate argument, I feel compelled to share a quote from the former Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church: "The fullness of truth seldom resides in one point of view. Therefore, we need to hold ourselves open to the possibility that our own perspectives will be enlarged by those with whom we disagree. "

I find it weird that you keep assuming I am voting for Obama? I never said anywhere that he was my choice. . . infact I have shared my disgust for both candidates that I might vote for Nader since honestly he sounds more stable on his views, his character, and his plan for our country. I am so undecided that I may stay that way and not vote period. Not argumentative or combative -----> see :). I hope God sees it in His Will to Bless the USA because we sure need it!

Michele, I feel the same way that you do about this early voting thing. I usually go on Election Day but this year I am so wired up that I am going to visit the polls this weekend. I would ask that you really look at Obama and see if he can lead our country. Please think about the people that he has associated with, with the idea of "spreading the word" which is Socialism.

Michele, I say this not based on race, I feel that Obama is going to be bad for our country. McCain was not my first, second or even fifth choice but he will keep us safer from our enemies and Sarah Palin will clean the corruption that is in our capital. Obama wants to tax us to give to those who don't pay taxes (welfare) and this is really going to make things really bad.

Please pray about. Luis

You know what I am finding alarming. . .all this early voting!! I feel a lot of brainwashing is going on and not only from the candidates camps but by the media too! I am taking every last moment until Nov. 4th to dig through the bull and make a good decision.

Recently made a trip through NC, VA, MD, and PA...AMAZED by all the McCain/Palin signs posted, even in the (liberal) cities! No doubt the media agenda is trying to cause us dispair, thinking that BO is way ahead in the polls. I think they are spinning deceit just like their benefactor, in an eloquent way. Thankfully, I am convinced that the Lord sovereignly rules OVER ALL, that He knows the results of this election, and that He will use it for the good of His kingdom.

I really had vowed that I would not get invloved with the political talk as I'm fed up with it all. I wish we would find someone that would step forward, could speak well, and cared more about their country than the party to which they belong. Alas, I think I'll die waiting. Michele brings up a good point about non-residents: any of you are more than welcome to visit sunny Arizona and see for your self what the impact of illegals is in the country. I know a number of hunters that have stopped hunting in southern Arizona due to illegals swarming across the border and the profliferation of drug smugglers. The illegal issue is much larger than the rest of the country realizes. I have no quater with anyone wanting to come to the US and better tham selves- DO IT LEGALLY and you'll have my total and complete support. My mother did- came to the US from Germany in 1951, learned the language, adopted the culture, became a proud citizen, and eventually retired from a position in the federal government. She had no sympathy for those that had entered illegally..nor do I. Anyway- the election is only a few weeks away and I too have great misgivings about the choices this year--- suffice it to say that many have shed their blood defending my right to cast my vote freely and I will do so in hopes that The People make the right and correct choice.

I do not claim to be as knowledgeable as the rest of you in politics but I also have a $.02 worth like Ivan. I am a registered Independent since I have been continually let down by the two parties over the last 8 years. In the last election I voted mostly Democrat since the Republicans dominated Congress in the previous 4 and nothing was good, well nothing is any different and has only gotten worse with 8 yrs. of poor, lazy decisions on both sides. As a single mom for 9 yrs. now I continue to watch our livelyhood get sucked away, continual sacrifice on the smallest luxuries now, because that is what it has come down too, no more big luxuries left. I see help going to those that weren't even born here while both myself and children go without health insurance. I am not prejudice and never will be, I am a people lover, but I feel things need to be made fair across the board no matter your nationality, religion, political stand, gender, on and on. I don't hear this coming from either candidate? The babble is all about the CEO's, Oil Companies, Retirees, and Main Street. . . .I live on a street of another name :(. Maybe I am offbase with my discussion but I can say I am not going to feel good about voting this November! GO NAVY!!
