Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

you also have to admit that government (for many years) has not made it easy to be in business in the US...I recently heard that $2 Trillion in capital investment by business in the US was on hold because those businesses do not trust the future of corporate law or corporate tax law in this country.  It is a two-way street......

I think governmentally the US has been off the rails for thirty years. Under both GOP and Dem leadership the economy has been bloating, with undue burden placed on the middle class while the wealthier Americans have been given a pass on tax burdens. the wealthy are called job creators, yet these same job creators closed over 50,000 factories in this country, while shipping those factories and jobs overseas to benefit themselves. We're an information economy, which doesn't build anything tangible. That trend needs to reverse.
On a lighter note, I will be sleeping through the wedding of a vestigial organ of the British Empire and anticipating the launch of a hero's husband on the shuttle. And then checking bags at Gate at the Ballyard in the Bronx later that day!

I think you are right Paul. The media is glad to let us get distracted with birther crap and race baiting garbage while this administration runs the country on a fast track to poverty and Socialism where the Democrates can bloat the Government even more while it dismantles our Military when no-one is paying attention.

more of interest...some of those he studied while at Occidental College...though all of this takes away from: US economy in the toilet, gas heading towards $5/gallon, a mess in Af'stan, potential no way out mess in Libya, foreclosures at astronomical highs. dollar sinking faster than a rock in a stream, terrible destruction and loss of life in mid-west storms, horrendous economic and ecological mess in the Gulf, a divisive media and divided nation....do I need to go on?  And we argue about a birth certificate.....what are we doing as a nation and as a people?

Mike,

All I am saying is, if it would avoid a scandal to show that I am a natural born citizen by showing my birth certificate. I would go to my file and post a copy. If I graduated from Harvard or Yale and someone wanted me to show my body of work while I attended. I would be proud to show off. If you don't have things to hide why not just put it out there and get the American public focused on my lazer like focus on the economy.

I spent 7 years working in Europe, USSR and Asia and I only found the French to be anti American. The rest of the world would move here in the blink of an eye and call themselves blessed to be here. The French are just a little envious if you ask me and would love to be Americans too, I'll bet. lol

@I Yam c) I am giving you an unvarnished view of how America is perceived on these issues by someone who is not a far left wingnut. I also know Euros who think America is all bad, this guy is not one of them. I work with contractors in Florida, and you are quite correct, this image is not the reality.

But think hard about the image America is projecting. I picked a friend's provocative rant as a bit of a wake up call. For a more polite media version, The Independent weighs in.

@greg & Elbert -- why were the first 43 presidents not asked for this evidence?. Well, up until Jackson or so they were born as the King's subjects, not Americans, but what about the rest? The "Certificate of Live Birth" has phraseology something like "prima facie evidence in any court proceeding", why was the long form necessary for 44, but not previously? Two true patriots could have been hounded on this issue for reasons just as spurious -- Goldwater was born in the territory of Arizona and McCain in the Canal Zone. In neither case was there more than a one or two day story where the citizenship rules were explained. So what is different about Obama. More importantly, what is the world perceiving to be the difference that motivates this demand?

And yes, I'm good and sick of the Royal Wedding. I get my conservative news from Scarborough and they are in England all week. Makes me want to watch Al Jazeera 24/7!

Tomorrow is a momentous day because of the shuttle launch -- and the good news is that Congresswoman Giffords has recovered enough to travel to Florida to watch her husband's launch! I will be at the auditorium watching this, but no way I'm getting up at 4 to watch the Royal Wedding.

btw, most of my English friends are republicans and either want the whole monarchy eliminated or have a "tourists are money" attitude towards it, but no real enthusiasm.

I think you're right about all he had to do is show his birth certificate which modern day Presidents do proudly, it's the Rule and that would have been the end of it. That surely would be easy for most anyone born in the Good Old US of A ? Mr. Berry Obama also has a free pass from the Media even with gas prices skyrocketing through the roof unlike what they did to Mr. George Bush! Who else out there is tire of hearing from the Media about the Brit's Royal wedding plans.

If the man would have just put this info out when it was begining to be an issue it would have died. I this the media just ave him a pass on lots of things during the election because they believe that Bush was a uneducated redneck. If Obama wants the the controvery to end he only needs to be open and honest and show us his credetials..ha ha

The birthers, on the other hand, are embarrassing us all. One of my English friend's reactions, with profanity cleaned up slightly:

It saddens me that political correctness is so rife in the USA that the Southern States can't just do what they have been aching to do for the last few years, which is bellow, with one voice, "HOLY F***ING S*** THERE'S A GOD-DAMN N*GRA IN THE WHITEHOUSE!"

I think once they got that out their system they'd be less wanky about the whole thing. The effort of pretending that the blackness of the man isn't an issue for them must be causing no end of stress issues for them. They should be encouraged to embrace their hatred. It's not like we can't see it anyway, and it's not like anybody is ever going to think highly of that arse-ignorant bunch of sister f**kers anyway. We have no respect for them to lose. They should be true to themselves.

This guy is no commie Eurotrash either, he is all in favor of Qaddafi and Qaddafi's head being separated.

Agree or disagree with his exact sentiments, this is the image our crazies are projecting abroad. It will be interesting to see if Obama actually releasing the long form birth certificate will have any effect whatsoever. I do hope that it ends the stupidity, but I'm not optimistic.

While I don't approve of aggravated assault, I don't feel particularly sorry for these idiots, either. I think parking behind all the vehicles with Kansas plates to immobilize the bastards was much more my speed.

THe WBC does provide one thing good for the country - something the liberals and conservatives can unite against!
