Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Where's our Libertarian Navy Dad from CT? It's time to make an effort to get him on the '12 ballot! He speaks sense!
The bi cameral system is inefficient, which would not seem to make sense, but the two sides look like two sides of the gym at a middle school dance. No mixing or you might get cooties!

True, but I'm not voting in April, and Moran isn't my congresscritter.

Your right Ray he dodged the Question and then blamed the GOP as always. Mike you can't ride the fence when you vote.

While I sympathize with the constituent, I think he might have been a bit more concise as well. And as to "blaming republicans", since the GOP controls the agenda, they carry responsibility. The Ensure Military Pay act or whatever it's called is a case in point. Two republicans proposed it, but their leadership hasn't seen fit to bring it to the floor, preferring to use the troops as a political card against the Dems.

Short version -- the hell with both parties in Congress.

Maybe if Mr. Moran had answered the question instead of giving a lame lecture about how Congress functions, while blaming the GOP at the same time, perhaps the gentleman would have been more receptive to his answer. If you're asked what time it is, don't tell me how the watch is made. Please.

I think this speaks for its self:  Rep. Jim Moran (D), Virgina

@paul --

Nice poster! I expect the military pay bill to pass at about 430-0 and 99-0 at some point this weekend if they don't come to a general agreement. But it is maddening that they haven't taken care of stuff in advance for the troops.

NASA being NASA, instead of telling us the 2-3 basic things we needed to know sent us a 21 page FAQ about the furlough.

@ctyankee -- I think park rangers is one place the taxpayer gets their money worth -- at least with recent experiences at Antietam and Assateague they were very helpful/informative. But your point is taken, if there were no rangers we could grow all the marijuana we want to in national parks... ;)

Let's see, Grand Canyon -- I might be tempted to bring a pair of bolt cutters and liberate the entrance to the "park" --Of course I'm only referring to gates & fences that separate arbitrary sides, not safety fences or barriers, and certainly not buildings or improvements.

After all the canyon was there long before the park service...

pretty disheartening isn't it Mike....I've worked in industry for 32 years...about the first thing I learned when dealing with a major issue was stay on target and SOLVE THE PROBLEM, then worry about assigning blame.  I cannot believe that those in DC never seemed to learn that concept.  And thought I am pretty darn conservative, I really fault the Republications for shifting the argument about budget and debt to an ideological one......if they are from the right side of the aisle or the left, FIRE THEM ALL !!!!!
