Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Yes, Hillary Clinton can tell you all about "Vast right wing conspiracies".

As for the whole birth thing, anyone born of a US citizen is a foreign born US citizen with all rights. If it's accepted that his mom is a born citizen then it seems to be a moot point to me. My knowledge of this comes from military men I know who married foreign nationals and had kids off base. So unless there are differences for military vs civilian citizens it seems pretty cut and dried to me. I think the big O is still incredibly bad at his job, but the whole birther thing is an exercise in futility.

Steve-- Reminds me of the speech given by the Gov. of New Mexico at the RNC--- she used to be a Democrat too!

HOW TO TELL IF YOUR KID IS A REPUBLICAN

A boy is in the car with his dad. They are leaving the parking lot of a shopping center. There is a man in the center divider at the exit with a cardboard sign that reads, "HOMELESS. OUT OF WORK. ANYTHING WILL HELP."

The boy says, "Dad, we should give that guy some money."

Dad says, "Why don't you mow a bunch of lawns this weekend and take the money you earn and give it to him?"

The boy replies, "Why doesn't HE just mow some lawns and make some money himself?

Welcome to the Republican Party, son!

Jim Breuer knows about beer:

WARNING:  DO NOT DRINK OR EAT DURING VIDEO.

What, he asked, does this have to do with politics?  Everything.

Jack Flash- I've always seen the distinction between the two. That's never been in doubt. I just have disdain for what both have to offer. No matter the results of this next election, Ryan did an excellent job of positioning himself to be a serious player come 2016 and/or 2020. The Bloomberg analysts pointed out something that I also suspected about this ticket. They have to be careful not to have a "Kangaroo ticket". Stronger in the hindquarters than on top. Unseating an incumbent is always difficult and Romney is dealing with "Likeability" problems with the voters. I'd vote Ryan/Romney long before Romney/Ryan. It'll be interesting to see if Romney can put himself out there well enough tonight to pull it off.

No basis for a system of government!

Steve--- sorry.  I do give you full creds for Beer out the nose.  That's righteous.

Kirk-- all kidding aside, I thought Ryan did a great job.  I do hope you soon see a distinction between the two tickets and what they are able to offer in the way of solutions for the problems we all face together as Americans.

Cheers for beers-- in the glass, down the hatch, and out the nose!

I was watching Bloomberg's coverage of the RNC. They did a good job. I felt they were more even handed than the others. Especially CNN's. I have to admit that I was quite impressed with Paul Ryan. I think he might have swayed some undecided voters. It'll be interesting to see how Romney presents himself.
