Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

I never said it was a bad thing so please do not put words into mouth. I am saying that both parties...please note that I said BOTH PARTIES are to blame for helping to foster this insane feeling of "disconnect" with the people and that the petty bickering we've seen for years will continue at new levels of extremism. Lets hope someone or something acts as a force to help actually foster a spirit of teamwork for a change. I'm sick of hearing about nothing but "a democrat victory or republican victory".....shouldn't the victory be for America? The notion that doing nothing is better than doing something is why a lot of major companies fail....they see the issues and they see the bottom line, but analyzing something to death and the continued idea of "let's think about it for a while" pretty much makes sure you end up working your tail off to maintain the status quo.

Who is in charge? Democrat Senate, Republican House, with a Democrat White House....it will be problematic to get anything done with the split on Capital Hill. Both parties will be trying their best to cement their platform while trying to screw the other party and generally forget about trying to run the country. I cannot see much happening over the next two years whatsoever....

Maybe because President Obama hasn't actually cut military pay?

I'd recommend paying attention who was in charge when all the problems at Walter Reed were uncovered. Kipling's "The last of the Light Brigade" will tell you what veterans can expect from the GOP.

Ah, well. They are in charge now. Let's see if they've learned anything over the last 6 years.

Mike, I don't understand how servicemen could want the man who cut your pay back lower then 2009 that you would want him re-elected ? Clinton is the only other president to do that. Bush give it back to the military and Obama took it away again. Obama is a one term president like Carter. There is always been the right American to step up when our country need them !!! GOD Bless our Serviceman

He'll get re-elected because there is no alternative candidate worth a hoot in either party and one cannot be developed in the few months before the race to 2012 starts in earnest.

No need for beach towel. These things swing back and forth. I'll predict right now that Obama will be re-elected, whatever you may think of him. Thinks looked pretty bleak for Reagan and Clinton after their first mid-term, but things worked out for them. Although I'd swap Reid losing for Admiral Sestak winning in a heartbeat.

Although I won't understand a crook like Rick Scott getting elected if I live to 150. David Vitter, I understand. His DC madam scandal did not reach the level of "caught in bed with a dead girl or live boy" in his peccadillos, and Louisiana forgives this kind of indiscretion. But Scott's company stole billions from Medicare on his watch. I fully understand throw the bums out, but I don't understand electing such a crook.
