Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

CBS isn't the "lamestream media"

This is the #3 thing that came up when I googled "glenn beck rally" -- facts aren't that hard to check. If I had to go 3 pages past conservative blogs to find CBS news you might have had a point.

Rex,

Love it. the only difference is the press coverage. The Beck thing got no coverage. Could not find a link to it on Yahoo and this weekends was front page news. Thousands show up for rally blah blah blah.

Here is a couple of photos one from Glenn Becks rally and the other from the liberal we love America, hope and change rally.
So you can see why there was not much coverage on the great hope and change rally.

Amen cyakee,

The smaller the size of government the faster the free market grows. Less government regulation the faster projects get completed

Ahhh Mike, Yes I know...

But I didn't say "demican" or "republicrat" -- I'm talking "Socialist" on the Left and "Fascist" on the Right -- both are "Big Government" proponents!

Let's be honest, if it weren't for "Big Government" we wouldn't be having this discussion. If government was the tamed beast serving the people then it would be like fire in a furnace -- well controlled, and harnessed. But we're standing in the midst of a forest fire and debating whether we should hose down the fence or the outhouse while the blaze engulfs the neighborhood. When the fire is up-wind it's too late to trim the chaparral on the hillside into a lawn & leaf bag with hand clippers; the time is before the fire season.

Well, "fire season" (the election) is <5 weeks away. Let's clear-cut! And that means a strong Libertarian government, like the Founders had in mind. Small government, well controlled, existing *WITHIN* the means of the governed.

@ Mike i can agree with you on this comment.

"As to fearing the left more than right or vice versa in general, it's all a degree of how extreme the leftist or rightist is"

@ Jim i agree with you too, but this will never come about. Lets just see what the out come of the November elections will be. I don't trust any of them .

@ctyankee -- you & I are mirror images -- I've for a long time disliked democrats and feared republicans!

As to fearing the left more than right or vice versa in general, it's all a degree of how extreme the leftist or rightist is. After all, the Socialist Labour party of Blair and Brown turned over power peacefully when defeated in the recent election. I don't really fear the European variety of social democracy, and anyone who has studied European history knows that Social Democrats and Stalinists hated each other. [I use the past tense because the cold war ended Reagan's way: we won, they lost -- "we" includes European social democrats, and "they" means the Stalinist Soviet Union.]

One quote from Richard Reeve's book on the Berlin Airlift, Daring Young Men, illustrates. Socialist Mayor Ernst Reuter speaking to the people of Berlin the day Stalin cut them off:

"People of Berlin...With every means possible, we will utterly reject every attempt to make us slaves and harlots of a particular party. We experienced that sort of slavery in the Reich of Adolf Hitler. We have had enough of it. We do not want a return to it."

I could go on, but lunch breaks don't last forever.
