Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Fathom the odd hypocrisy that Obama wants every citizen to prove they are insured, but people don't have to prove they are citizens

Why cant this judge William Young and the few others like him be a nomination for a supreme court judge ? A lot of us think the judicial system is broken and it is .
This is like a breath of fresh air and helps me believe that not all of the federal Judges are whacked out liberals that legislate from the bench.
Of coarse we didn't hear anything from the media, its not news worthy enough, and Reid is a Muslim, and a patriot in there eyes.

Remember the guy who got on a plane with a bomb built into his shoe
>and tried to light it?
> Did you know his trial is over?
> Did you know he was sentenced?
> Did you see/hear any of the judge's comments on TV or Radio?
>
> Didn't think so.!!!
>
> Everyone should hear what the judge had to say.

Ruling by Judge William Young, US District Court.

> Prior to sentencing, the Judge asked the defendant if he had anything to say.
>His response: After admitting his guilt to the court for the record, Reid also admitted
>his 'allegiance to Osama bin Laden, to Islam, and to the religion of Allah,' defiantly
>stating, 'I think I will not apologize for my actions,' and told the court 'I am
>at war with your country.'

> Judge Young then delivered the statement quoted below:
>
> January 30, 2009, United States vs. Reid.
>
> Judge Young: 'Mr. Richard C. Reid, hearken now to the sentence
>the Court imposes upon you.
>
> On counts 1, 5 and 6 the Court sentences you to life in prison in the custody
>of the United States Attorney General. On counts 2, 3, 4and 7, the Court sentences
>you to 20 years in prison on each count, the sentence on each count to run consecutively.
>(That's 80 years.)
>
> On count 8 the Court sentences you to the mandatory 30 years again, to be served
>consecutively to the 80 years just imposed.. The Court imposes upon you for
>each of the eight counts a fine of $250,000 that's an aggregate fine of $2 million..
>The Court accepts the government's recommendation with respect to restitution and
>orders restitution in the amount of $298.17 to Andre Bousquet and $5,784 to American
>Airlines.
>
> The Court imposes upon you an $800 special assessment. The Court imposes upon
>you five years supervised release simply because the law requires it. But the life
>sentences are real life sentences so I need go no further.
>
> This is the sentence that is provided for by our statutes. It is a fair
>and just sentence. It is a righteous sentence..
>
> Now, let me explain this to you. We are not afraid of you or any of your
>terrorist co-conspirators, Mr. Reid. We are Americans. We have been
>through the fire before. There is too much war talk here and I say that to
>everyone with the utmost respect. Here in this court, we deal with individuals
>as individuals and care for individuals as individuals. As human beings, we
>reach out for justice.
>
> You are not an enemy combatant. You are a terrorist.. You are not a soldier
>in any war. You are a terrorist. To give you that reference, to call
>you a soldier, gives you far too much stature.. Whether the officers of government
>do it or your attorney does it, or if you think you are a soldier, you are not-----
>you are a terrorist. And we do not negotiate with terrorists. We do
>not meet with terrorists. We do not sign documents with terrorists.
>We hunt them down one by one and bring them to justice.
>
> So war talk is way out of line in this court. You are a big fellow. But
>you are not that big. You're no warrior. I've known warriors. You are
>a terrorist. A species of criminal that is guilty of multiple attempted murders.
>In a very real sense, State Trooper Santiago had it right when you first were taken
>off that plane and into custody and you wondered where the press and the TV crews
>were, and he said: 'You're no big deal.'
>
> You are no big deal.
>
> What your able counsel and what the equally able United States attorneys have
>grappled with and what I have as honestly as I know how tried to grapple with, is
>why you did something so horrific. What was it that led you here to this courtroom
>today?
>
> I have listened respectfully to what you have to say. And I ask you to search
>your heart and ask yourself what sort of unfathomable hate led you to do what you
>are guilty and admit you are guilty of doing? And, I have an answer for you.
>It may not satisfy you, but as I search this entire record, it comes as close to
>understanding as I know.
>
> It seems to me you hate the one thing that to us is most precious. You hate
>our freedom. Our individual freedom. Our individual freedom to live
>as we choose, to come and go as we choose, to believe or not believe as we individually
>choose. Here, in this society, the very wind carries freedom. It carries
>it everywhere from sea to shining sea. It is because we prize individual freedom
>so much that you are here in this beautiful courtroom, so that everyone can see,
>truly see, that justice is administered fairly, individually, and discretely.
>It is for freedom's sake that your lawyers are striving so vigorously on your behalf,
>have filed appeals, will go on in their representation of you before other judges.
>
> We Americans are all about freedom. Because we all know that the way
>we treat you, Mr. Reid, is the measure of our own liberties. Make no mistake
>though. It is yet true that we will bear any burden; pay any price, to preserve
>our freedoms. Look around this courtroom. Mark it well. The world
>is not going to long remember what you or I say here. The day after tomorrow,
>it will be forgotten, but this, however, will long endure.
>
> Here in this courtroom and courtrooms all across America , the American people
>will gather to see that justice, individual justice, justice, not war, individual
>justice is in fact being done. The very President of the United States through
>his officers will have to come into courtrooms and lay out evidence on which specific
>matters can be judged and juries of citizens will gather to sit and judge that evidence
>democratically, to mold and shape and refine our sense of justice..
>
> See that flag, Mr. Reid? That's the flag of the United States of America
>. That flag will fly there long after this is all forgotten. That flag stands
>for freedom. And it always will.
>
> Mr. Custody Officer. Stand him down.
>
> So, how much of this Judge's comments did we hear on our TV sets? We
>need more judges like Judge Young. Pass this around. Everyone should
>and needs to hear what this fine judge had to say. Powerful words that strike home.

Wow Mike,
You sound like a racist. You think only people of Spanish origin would do garbage removal? You sound like Colin Powell too, he say he sees illeagal aliens working at his house everytime he calls someone to fix something. So I guess that means that any time he sees someone with dark skin, they are illeagal, or maybe he asked them for their documents before they did the work for him.
The truth be known competition drives the prices of things down. Government intruding in business, destroys competition. Since you want the Government to own everything and run everything and do away with competition. We are all doomed to higher prices and less services and we will have to do most of the work ourselves. We should all learn to do with less. It is only fair! After all there are people out there that not gotten an increase in their wellfare checks, sucked from the rich in weeks.
You must be visiting the few crazy liberal people that live here in Arizona, if they have illeagal maids and nannies. They are the only ones that piss and moan, because they are finding it hard to get their help these days. We don't hire nannies, maids or landscapers because we work for a living.

Of course you wouldn't know by the controversy that average annual illegal immigration is down since 2000, a trend that covers both the Bush and Obama years.
You could look it up

I was down in March for my mom's funeral. All the family is in the Phoenix area, so I certainly don't have first hand knowledge of the border counties. I get out once or twice a year, so I'll probably be able to see the differences (if any) when I visit in November.
Comment by Rex on September 20, 2010 at 12:20pm
@ Mike __ So how long ago did you visit our state ? The vast majority of the illegals have moved out of the state . No more big groups of people standing on the street corners of Home Depot and Lowes.
The schools have had a big decline in enrollment this school year causing a lot of them to close because of the lack of federal money. This in turn is causing the school districts and teacher unions to cry foul, and blame it all on the house bill 1070.
You now can go to the hospital emergency room and get service with out waiting for hours now because we all know of the free health that the illegals had received.
What you don't hear about,in the main stream media is,how much money our state is saving now because of all the free give away social services and government programs have declined after the exit of the vast majority of the illegals.
One of the reasons for what you call low rates in trash pick up is because of the fierce competition between all of the trash companies not cheap labor !
The next time you come out here, take the time and go to a border town talk to the people, than you can really see how and why some of us feel the way we do about border security.
The main stream media has no idea on what is going on down here. You need to get some first hand real education on the problems at the border.
Have a GREAT week at work and consider your self lucky that you have a super government job, because there are so many of us out here looking for employment.

@greg -- I wonder where the private garbage companies find the cheap labor that allows such low rates. Mexico, perhaps?

I suspect there is a good bit of a different sort of don't ask, don't tell going on in AZ. On my visits out there I've met all too many people who have illegal nannies and piss, moan, whine and bitch about illegal aliens. I'd be interested in what would happen if la migra went after your garbagemen.
