Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

And where did the Chinese get the guidance systems for the missiles they would deploy against our fleet? Oh yea, from Bill Clinton's white house and massage parlor. Remember your vote has consequences. The tests I witnessed of our Patriot missile system, only hit one out of 5 rockets they targeted. Not odds that make me comfortable with a son in the Navy.

@Pat,

Face it, Presbo is way over his head, and the Chinese know it. I'm not really worried yet, because the Chinese have had the nuke potential to take out a fleet since at least 2004. Something in the back of my head keeps whispering to me that the Chinese won't do anything stupid!

However, when they finally stand-up, back away from the table, stretch, and tell the US that the old paradigm is over... It's us who better not do anything stupid! I give it a 60% chance in 7 years.

Not that they will hit a US fleet, but that they will be able to tell us in no uncertain terms where we may and where we may not operate the fleet. Oh and we'll still be picking up the tab as the world's police force.

This is why it is time for a new party, not sure the tea party is an answer but it is a good start. We have been divided into a two party system that is not working. Democrats- bleeding heart liberals that lean towards a socialistic form of government. Republicans- Limit the amount of federal control especially it it affects the status of your wealth. If we can save 7.5 billion dollars by closing a loophole, why hasn't it been done already?

I'm gonna get some heat from this...but I know for a fact that _some_ of the 9/11 responders that are claiming disabilities are liars! That's to say their "disability" claim is bullsh*t.

I would point interested readers to:

I'm also quite dismayed that anyone would chastise the congress for actually recognizing their limitations for once. Then again why did it have to be that particular issue that they chose to develop a spine for? All the more reason to "Flip that house! - Throw them all out!"

The crux of the issue is not should we reward those that claim injury or even compensate those that actually were injured. The issue is should we turn the other cheek in the face of an enemy that brutally attacked us?

Yesterday was the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima. We finally sent the US ambassador to the ceremony (I'm surprised Presbo himself wasn't there bowing & apologizing for US arrogance... but that's another story. Maybe he'll prostrate himself at Nagasaki or on VJ-day???).

Suppose it was 1943 or 1950 and Japan was insisting that they be allowed to build an Imperial Chrysanthemum monument on the site of the Arizona as a "gesture"... Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? Even today, Japanese visiting the memorial do so with the utmost respect and remorse. Then again the Japanese were civilized by comparison.

No I say! A mosque at ground zero is absolutely intolerable! If muslims wish to come to an "American" memorial to commemorate the loss and act in a respectful manner, that's fine.

As Americans we *remove* our head-wear as a sign of respect. So I propose that as a simple acid test at the 9/11 memorial / shrine. Muslims (anyone for that matter) that wish to enter as a show of respect and condolence remove their head covering to enter the shrine. If they are unwilling to do so then they are not sincere -- it's really that simple.

Say NO the the GZM.
