I want you to meet two people, Joe and Jose

You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal". Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California.

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or 52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens . . . You are part of the problem!

I want to say a good word about Tom Coburn, because he actually told a crowd of constituents that while he disagreed with essentially everything Nancy Pelosi thinks she is a good and nice person. He ended by saying something like "People in Washington are good, they just don't know what they don't know"

Since this comes during a week where men were arrested for death threats to Pelosi and Patty Murray, this effort to help people get a grip is much appreciated.

I don't have much use for Coburn's politics, but he is officially on my Good Guys(tm) list

I will say that my rates have been going up about 10% a year in real dollars WITHOUT Obamacare, and the projections absent any action are frightening. If the GOP weren't so hellbent on "breaking Obama" or making health care "Obama's Waterloo", perhaps this bill could have had some GOP ideas like tort reform in it. However, I just saw a poll that says 45% of republicans don't believe Obama, a man born in the STATE of Hawaii, is an American-born citizen. The GOP is willing to try and win through lies and intimidation what they lost at the ballot box, and I don't believe that will work for them. They might still gain some seats this year, but the long run is against them.

The millenials, who include the young lady from ORU I posted from and most of our Sailors and Marines, have no patience for this kind of hatred. The vast majority of them think the 1960s are over. If you look at the 2008 exit polls, it is clear that the under 45 voted overwhelmingly for Obama, the over 45 overwhelmingly for McCain. And we over 45 relics will be dying off as the under 45 generation grows. So the GOP might do some rethinking, and consider purging the haters.

As to "taking the bible out of school", I believe you are referring to government prayer, led by the teacher as a government agent. Please forgive me, but if that teacher led the Islamic call to prayer you would be up in arms. Christian after-school clubs, "meet at the flagpole" morning prayer, even the "Bible as literature" class my high school had in the mid 1970s -- all legit. Government prayer -- not so much. You don't have freedom of religion if the prayer isn't voluntary. And there is plenty of voluntary prayer in our schools.
