1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate
John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.
That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.
Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.
Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Hey Joseph you da man hehe!
Hey, what's wrong with BASEBALL?!?!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Steve and Jack I'm not really a huge politico but thanks for both of your input here... I am not afraid to show my true colors and neither should anyone else to speak their minds in a tactful manner.
Thanks for the prayer rev...
Watching CNN now... Bowing my head...
Get off my Jackwagon!
Ha!
YOU DO!
(note appropriate use of all caps)
I love that commercial!
HOWL!
Okay Steve B-- that made me laugh man. That was awesome. I agree. I don't see why anybody has to personalize what could otherwise be a good, open discussion.
Regarding the ALL CAPS use-- thank you for explaining your reasons. I'm glad I don't have to sugar coat it for you. MOST people, simply find it annoying when someone uses all caps for posting in any electronic forum, whether email, or in a chat room, or on social media including Internet forums... Newbies are cut some slack in this regard, but once informed of proper "netiquette" they are expected to fall in line... Kind of like the Navy-- there isn't much room for "individuals" -who insist on doing things their own way.
Of course this isn't the military-- so you are free to act as you see fit, just know that people who don't know you will think you to be rude and inconsiderate for using, and continuing to use ALL CAPS. To make this a constructive criticism-- since you mentioned the need to see what you typed more easily, consider breaking up your paragraphs more frequently. This makes your post much more "readable" and consider using the CAPS feature for emphasis only-- as a easy alternative to using the bold font or underlining features for example, which can serve the same purpose of adding emphasis to your various points.
Hope you don't mind the tutorial. Since "tone" is something difficult to convey when typing, it's important to try to at least be aware of the way your point is coming across. I might use things like (chuckle) or (grin) to try to set the tone for a post that is meant to be sent as light-hearted, or in response to something I got a kick out of, but you can see how even that can be misinterpreted as mean-spirited, or condescending when it was an attempt to difuse tension... so there is no "right" way of doing things, only guidelines that are pretty common and widely used. Take what you will from it.
Finally, I want to say that I do appreciate your willingness to express your opinion on the matter. I was feeling a little dazed and confused by the earlier exchange and commentary from site Admin. I wasn't aware of what line I had crossed and had to ask for clarification offline. I believe we should be free to express ourselves here, and as long as we are respectful of one another, this should be a place where discussions are possible. Having said that, the relationships formed here are far more important to me than any political opinion, so if I ever offend anyone personally-- tell me, and I'll do my best to make it right.
On a much lighter note-- Steve B---
This guy was in the news today, but in addition to the news story-- for some reason your post brough this clip to mind... Kind of a hard-edged kind of guy--- the kind it's fun to share beers with...
Do you know what makes me sad??? lol
SWEET. YOU'RE THE MAN, JIM. AND THANK YOU GUYS FOR PUTTING THIS SITE TOGETHER. IT HAS ACTUALLY BEEN VERY HELPFUL.
BY THE WAY: I HEARD THAT IF OBAMA IS RE-ELECTED, HE'S GOING TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE WASHINGTON NATIONALS TO THE WASHINGTON INTERNATIONALS.
