Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Hi Bob,

You lost me... If the $500k was "quietly snuck" into his account, how do you know about it? Are you sure it wasn't part of the 'normal' campaign process? Heck, the Democrats threw "Congressional House" funds at a Senate race. That' sounds contrary to the spirit of the whole process.

Some folks will say Brown didn't win because Coakley "Lost", others will say the opposite, but this was a national campaign -- which the founders of the Constitution didn't want. Is Massachusetts represented in the Senate again? Yes.

The super-majority is over!!! Yay! Perhaps the politicos will actually read the message that was sent to them.

Re: Scott Browns Ma win, New Englanders in general are very independent, and object to out siders, one of the first to oppose this was a guy named John Adams, remember him? He did not like what the British were doing.

Mr Brown came on very fast from Dec on, however when the national Dems started flowing into MA he really started to gain ground. A funny thing is how the Republican Senator in charge of senate races quietly snuck in $ 500,000 to Mr browns campaign till unoticed.

The comical thing about the MA election to me is why the truck Manufacturer has not tried to capitalize on Mr browns truck as yet. 200,000 plus miles, I hope it was an american made vehicle.

Gonna be a long winded one here. You all left me in the dust today!
First off,Rex,aint that the truth! We have our problems here in this country, but when one looks at what is going on in Haiti it really makes a person sit back and think, maybe we are not really that bad off.Another way to look at it though is,if we sit back on our backsides, could we possibly end up in a situation similar to what Haiti is in?Just a thought!
Pat,you lost me! J/K.. I never had civics in school, middle school or high school and I knew the answers to the questions you posted. Why,because as a youngster my folks talked about such things although not in those words. It all starts with the family!Talking about those things today have gone over the hill in most homes,if the kids even have a home. Our kids were exposed to talk about politics and it drove them nuts, but now they are beginning to understand{:-)
Mark, yes people are getting tired of the politicians attitude of "my way or tough s**t". As far as Obama,I don't think they are tired of him, just the fact that he has not lived up to what he said before he was elected.I think people have been tired of the way politicians have ignored them over the years, whether it be dem. or republican.Just promise people that water is over the next ridge and they will walk all day to quench their thirst.Make sense?
Not minimize everyone else, but yes the election of SENATOR Brown is good and a wake-up call to the rest of the slugs in government.
Thank you for your time and have a good day folks!!!!!!!!

More people think health care reform doesn't go far enough than goes too far, according to a CBS poll taken from January 6-10, 2010.

HEALTH CARE REFORM IN CONGRESS
Covering Controlling Regulating health
Americans Costs insurance cos.
Go too far 32% 24% 27%
Not far enough 35 39 43
About right 22 21 18

No further comment, other than this is what I meant about people of good will coming to anti-status-quo conclusions for completely different reasons.

A few of the quiz questions are very poorly worded -- one of my major peeves with social studies teachers through the ages. But the questions that a lot of folks got wrong were because of *ignorance* not poor wording.

Great post, Pat. If you don't mind, I would like to post the stats you listed on my Facebook page. We have a hot political debate going on there now.

Pat, you are correct, however the problem stems from lack of education. The school don't teach civics anymore. They glance of history and put huge emphasis on math and science (which is important). But as a result, people don't understand how government works. So when people are confused, they do nothing. This is why they keep voting the bozos back in. They don't know what else to do. In addition, the incumbents have a huge advantage when it comes to raising money.

Steve, the house of cards is beginning to fall. The American people are tired of Obama, Reid and Pelosi ignoring the desires of the people and trying to ram their agenda down our throats regardless of what we think. Pelosi said it again yesterday, "we will have health care one way or the other". They still haven't gotten the message. They are considering the 'nuclear option" to force it through. They do not care what the people want. It is all about THEM and their power.
