Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Hey Rex,I have been following this story for about 2 weeks now and I think you are 100% correct. This is just the beginning of what should be an interesting time leading up to the elections in November of this year!
I do not think that the dems that are trying to cram all of this health care B.S. down our throats really think that the American people can or will do anything about their antics(the senate)...
Like somebody said a while ago, don't have to vote (R) or (D),just vote in the ones that believe that they are there to serve the people of this great country!
They have received their notice tonight in Mass.!!!!!!!!!!!

@pat -- I agree with everything you said, although I suspect our "intellectually honest ballots" would not agree!

I really should have kept up with this group. I see ctyankee is really on roll. Great job!

Mike, I took the same oath as you when I made CWO2. It differs from the enlisted oath by a key significant difference. "that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; ". And yes it is the same oath our congressmen and senators take. Therefore I say we need to get rid of every single congressman and senator that has violated this oath of office (which will probably be everyone currently sitting). Going into office knowing damn good and well that you are going to do everything possible to benefit the special interest that got you elected is in itself a violation of the oath. "Purpose of Evasion"

Yes, the oath is binding. In the military you can go to courts-martial for violating it. There are also ethics rules of congress that cover this.

With congress having an approval rating of less than 30% should be telling everyone something. They are obviously NOT doing their jobs. And this is a true non-partisan comment. Therefore, we do not re-elect a single incumbent. Then we elect the best person for the job, based on character, job performance in what ever they have done, and their lack of attachements to any special interest. Should this dream of mine ever happen, we push for term limits on congress and the senate. Do we want another Ted Kennedy or Byrd? New blood every so often so the DC corruption is minimized.

OK, enough of my dream. I just felt compelled to express my opinion.

@ctyankee -- ask the air traffic controllers Reagan fired about whether the oath is to be taken seriously.

Hey Mike,

Is that Civil Service Oath binding??? Because if it is then I'd like to start a movement to eliminate all the bureaucrats that have demonstrably failed to uphold the oath! Because I don't see any sentences or revisions in the oath that allows the bureaucrats to disregard the Constitution based on expediency...

The point would not be to discharge the actual workers, but to start to look back up the chain of command, which is where all responsibility ultimately lies. Somewhere someone violated that oath and issues new directives to a subordinate that violated that oath, whether intentionally, or through gross negligence or carelessness, or incompetence.

I don't see where an error once made and detected cannot be corrected by law. I'm going to go out on a limb and state that if the *only* consequence is the offending of the god to which the oath was sworn, then the oath is wholly inadequate. It's either got teeth in the world or it's meaningless.

Yeah, I noticed that Paul dropped, I urged him to continue to participate in a non-admin role... I hope he returns and keeps the dialog active, or at least continues to lurk. But Paul wasn't the one that made no argument. He spoke up, so unless I'm mistaken the e-mail referred to someone else.

I apologize for the following political push.

Tomorrow, Tuesday Jan 19 2010 is the date of the Socialist health care referendum.

I urge all eligible Massachusetts people of good conscience to deny the Democrats the 60th vote and the rubber stamp!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE vote Brown and the GOP -- If you cannot bring yourself to do that or simply don't understand the consequences to one party rule -- at least don't vote for Coakley.

Regards.
