Navydads Political Talk Rules and Guidelines

1. Whether Republican or Democrat we are all on the same team - The Navy's
2. Name calling or threats to any member because of their political stance will not be tolerated
3. Respect each others political views and debate them in a civil manner
4. Only a healthy debate will be allowed on this site
5. With the rules in place please feel free to join in on the debate

John and Luis have set a wonderful example of how we should debate things in a civil manner. I just want to be up front with everyone who participates in this discussion that I will not let this get out of hand. I want to warn everyone that this site is here to benefit us with our children's journey through the Navy not to slam each others political beliefs.

That being said I do understand that the next commander in chief will be relevant to us Navy parents. I encourage healthy debates when it comes to politics. It's what makes this country so great. We can have our own beliefs and we get to vote for whom we want in office. All I ask is for everyone to debate in a healthy manner not in a negative manner. Express your views and let others express theirs. I do not want this to be a negative response to this candidate or a negative response to that candidate. We all know that political talks can quickly become shouting matches and this is not the site for it.

Whichever candidate wins this election will be the one that we need to stand behind and support because this person will be our children's commander in chief. In the military it doesn't come down to whether you are a Republican or Democrat. In a time of war it comes down to protect your brothers in arms no matter what branch of military they are in or what their political, religious beliefs are. Navy, Marines, Airforce, Army and Coast Guard when it comes down to it will fight side by side to defend this great country's freedoms no matter where they come from.

Sincerely, Navydads Creator

Hey Paul,

I hope you won't close the discussion. We all need a place to vent and the title of this topic is a defacto warning that the contents will be *hot*. We're all adults.

It's my sincerest belief that the cure to speech you don't like is more speech; never censorship or a gag. I know you're the admin and this is your group, but I implore you to consider the stifling effect that suppressing an unpopular opinion has in the long run.

If you disapprove of what a poster is advocating, challenge it, ridicule it, rip it to shreds, attack the premises, or just plain disagree. But please reserve the admin power for universally inappropriate and off topic nonsense like Viagra and Nigerian Bank letters ^_^

this is getting a little too personal and I vote to shut the group down if we can't rise above this level. Let's not forget why we're here...to support each other with our children serve in the US Navy....

Mike... That number is probably pretty close as far as Muslims in general not causing problems, but don't you think that about the same number could apply to the tea party people as being terrorists per statements from the current admin.

Terrorists are only a part of the problem in our country. One of the other problems is the way this country is run by elected officials. As far as your little cartoon,I don't think we want to go back quite that far,but I will tell you this I am tired as heck getting up every day ,5 and 6 days a week, every week and paying for those that don't have the the drive to do so for themselves.Everybody has struggles in their lives from time to time and needs help, but I see to many people that take the easy way out and stay on the public dole.If I was a little younger and there were more hours in the day I would go out and get a second job,but after I hit 45 I quit working more than one.

Have a nice day!!!!!

Steve !!!!!!!!

any more Mike I want to be like the ostrich and bury my head in the sand....maybe the whole problem will go away then?!?!?! How did the world get so perverted over the last generation or two.........

Clarification on a previous post -- I wrote ambiguously, so I want to be clear that I don't approve of Iranian nukes. I do understand how rational Iranians can argue for them, though.

Yes, it does take two to tango -- and thanks for reading the whole Post article, BTW -- the problem is if 999,999 Muslim kids say no and 1 says yes, you have a jihadi who can take down an airliner. The good guys have to succeed every time, the bad guys only have to succeed once.

The difference for Muslims is that the 1 is taken by the broader population, or at least the bigoted among them, to represent all Muslims. In contrast, no one thought Tim McVeigh represented all veterans when he murdered 168 people, or Eric Rudolph represented all Christians when he bombed the Olympics in Atlanta.

I do have to ask how outsider jihadis have such easy access to campuses. That's a more important question than whether or not Islam is a "religion of peace". My answer to the latter is there is no such thing as a religion of peace. Consider the Troubles in Ireland, the Rape of Nanking, and the partition of India to see that Christians, Shinto, Hindus and Muslim alike have a lot to answer for. Any religion can be perverted, and has been.

it's an interesting article Mike and it starts to show the difficult postion that the past decade has placed American Muslims in...as far as recruiting youth however, I'm reminded sof something my father used to say all the time..."it takes two to tango...." and if there was not a receptive audience then I doubt campus recruiters would be very successful.....and I have no idea how to break that cycle. We, as a nation, have certainly not come up with very many effective ways to break that cycle when dealing with inner city gangs....

Islam the religion of peace, but wait a minute we are only 5% radical. The rest of the 95% of us are quiet Christan loving people too. we never speak up against our bad brothers. we also live in fear but we keep that under wraps too . we also get a lot of criticism from people but we just wonder why ?
