Charles and Cindy, glad you two are here.   My Sailor's dad and I are very supportive of him and had a good time at PIR.  We are both so very proud of him, and he's the best thing we did together!!!

Cindy, absolutely beautiful and right on!
I want others to know that Cindy is my ex-wife and mother of my son! While we have been divorced for 20 years and both remarried, she gave me two of the most important things on earth: my two children! She will always be special!!

Cynthia, that prayer is good for those of us who have already seen our Sailor go through basic and PIR and first deployment, etc.  Thanks for sharing.

Bill, I,too, am feeling a bit of peace since putting our son on that plane!  These words from a prayer in Stormie Omartian's book "The Power of a Praying Parent" helped me a lot..."...Show me places where I continue to hang on to him and enable me to release him to Your protection, guidance and counsel.  Help me not to live in fear of possible dangers, but in the joy and peace in knowing that You are in control.  I rely on You for everything, and this day I trust my child to You and release him into Your hands."  God is in control and our job at this time is to continue to pray for him and TRUST God with a heart of thanksgiving for this path that He has chosen for our son and all the others that serve our country.

I just put my son on the plane to Great Lakes this afternoon! After all the tears, stress, and angst, when I got home from the airport and walked into the house, an incredible peace came over me! It could have bee nothin less than The Lord reassuring me all will be fine! Blessed be His holy Name!

Blondie, that is Wonderful news about your Sailor!!!!  Congratulations.

Charles, Blondie always shares what seems to be just the right verse(s).  I don't post much, but I always read them.  Thanks, Blondie!!!

Thanks Blondie for those verses! I really need them right now. My son leaves for boot tomorrow. I am taking it much much harder than I thought imaginable! My son is so ready to start and dad is having panic attacks! I have lost sight of The Lord right now and have tried to deal with all this on my own. It isn't working. I need Him right now more than ever and could use everyone's prayers. Thank you again!

(Psalm 34:18-19 NKJV) The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

(1Peter 5:7) Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you.

"But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation." - Psalm 13:5

(Colossians 3:15 NKJV) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Here's a short (lol) story about my sailor and grandson. at the end is Great news (the reason my sailor called in the first place)

sailor called, I never get use/tired of hearing her voice....soo I was doing dishes and talking to sailor (after dog got done licking the phone) when dog starts whinning, and goes to the door. I said no, she's not home she's on the speaker phone. he kissed the phione and then went to the door crying and I let him out and who's in the drive way but my son and grandson. should have seen dog and Connor meet each other! like they hadn't seen each other for years, it'd only been 4 days. lol so Connor gets in the house and hears sailor's voice so he's looking for her, so I said bubby she's on the phone and show him the phone (has her picture on it when she calls) but he wouldn't talk to her! just kept looking at phone, we all talked another 1/2 hour and she hangs up so I can finish dishes, make supper and shower. Connor wouldn't say, bye, wave or blow kisses to her. he goes off playing, I finish draining water and washing sinks....grap my towel to go into bathroom and find him and dog looking out window waving and Connor is saying b-y-e, B-y-e....no one is out there of course but to his little mind he's saying bye to sailor. when we say bye we get in the cara and go somewhere. by the time I get my phone out to take a picture he's turned around and runs to me and looks in phone for her. :( so my shower's done and I'm making supper when Connor lets me know PaPa is home, when hubby comes in I say quess who I talked to today? and Little man throws his arms in the air (like singing to God) and shouts XXXXX ! It was PRICELESS. Son and I are just staring with our mouths open and Papa says to Connor, Aunt XXXXX ? and looks to me and says I swear he just said Aunt XXXXX and he sees me and son just staring and starts laughing so Connor gets that little boy belly laugh....we were all in tear by the time we got it under control. never did get him to say it again last night. we tried and tried to get it recorded...nope. "Darn" Sailor said "at least there were 3 of you to witness it." and she texted her other brother and sister to brag! lol

she called to tell me she lived through the stress thur.- yesterday, very little sleep but talking to Mom was most important and to let me know she was okay. How can you Not LOVE this girl ?! and here is Her good news!!!!!: I'm sooo Excited for her, she is too but admitted alittle scared. She couldn't wait till her daddy got home to tell us both (very unusual) but then again she needed sleep. lol wonder if she ever slept last night (HMMM) ? Anywho, are you ready? she was just promoted to Division Chief. I can't express how PROUD we are of her. TEARS.

found this in my e-mail from her this morning.....Tissue Alert! (this song has a "special" meaning to our family)

God Bless ALL of our troops!
