Newest pic from his 1st deployment
Finally a few pictures...
Thank you Denise, I really appreciate the information.
Can anyone tell me if my son would likely be going to combat training after PIR prior to going to A-school. Or is the combat training done after A-school?
Thanks
Wecome Rick. Your son made a good choice. Seabees are as dedicated as they come.
My son Gage started RTC on 19 July, after which he will report to Port Hueneme for schooling to become a CM. When his recruiter asked him why he wants to join he said, "a family tradition and a sense of belonging". Although I was ARNG my father retired as an E-9 and Gage wants to carry on the Navy tradition. In reading through this forum I now know that the Seabees are a close and dedicated group, and my son made a good decision by becoming a Seabee.
How soon after PIR can a sailor be deployed? Can it happen before A school, or does the Navy wait for schooling to be completed?
Jeff was heartsick that he had to tell his bees that they wouldn't be advancing. Even in his rate for Sr.Chief, they rated 1. I hope they don't lose faith,,let's hope this turns around for them. I don't know a bee that isn't dedicated to his job, and they work as a brotherhood.
He can retire anytime now,,but know in his heart he wants to make Sr. Chief, as that was what his Dad was when he retired.
Hey Denise, the way I look at it is everything will work out for our kids as they are still young.Even Michael is ,in the whole scheme of things. 31 is really not all that old to get into another career.... it sounds like he is into mechanics so that could take him in so many directions!! He just has to find his niche and I am sure he will if the need arises.
I didn't get into my current job until I was 34 and I will retire here in about 5 years doing something that I enjoy, with 25 years of service.. So, all we can do as parents is support them in which ever course they take{:-)
Be interesting to see how the next bunch of promotions go in the next cycle!!!
