Hey Joe,i was reading about your daughter and time off to get home.Once she gets to phase 2(about 3 weeks) she will be able to leave base with another person on the buddy system. They are supposed to keep each other out of trouble. They can leave base at about 7 A.M. and they have to muster no later than 9:30 P.M i think.

My son James says that once the sailor gets to ECS they are allowed to go about their business on their own and i think that they can go off base as long as they have no watch or other duties to perform that week-end.You are one of the lucky ones as your daughter will do both her "A" school and ECS at Gulf Port,so you should have at the very least 8 weeks with your daughter, not counting the 2 weeks leave between "A" school and ECS. We consider ourselves lucky to have seen James 2 weeks in the last 6 months!
Best of luck to you and your family Joe!Time for me to get the heck out of here and go rustle up a good bloody steak{:-)

Hi Sailor07... I know what you mean by having a bad week fighting the heat, not just at work,in the house and trying to keep the animals from stressing out from the heat.Down here in Lewis County we were fighting temps around 106,107.Way to hot for Washington state.Hopefully the worst is behind us!

As for listening devices for the troops,I am of the mind that there is to much high tech gear that the ground pounders have to deal with.Bullets, beans, and body armor!Beyond that a soldier should trust their instincts and training, but then that is just my opinion.Well you take care and we'll talk to you later!

Hi Sailor07,glad to hear all has been worked out concerning your son.I think it would be one heck of a position to be in.

That story you posted was excellent.I love the kind of attitude that a soldier of gunnies caliber exudes. To me that is old school !Gotta love it !Brought more than a tear and a chuckle. If that kind of attitude could be bottled and spread around the world there would be no terrorist to be worried about.Well thanks again and i hope all goes good for you and your family.
Steve !!!!!
