Hi Joe....Glad to hear that you got the chance to see your daughter.No matter how long or short the time it is always well worth the effort.Another plus seeing as how you all live so close to the base is you will have the opportunity to drive over and see her as she progresses thru her training.Glad to hear all went well!

Well Steve I was able to see Brandy and some of her shipmates that was going to Gulfport. we has
about 15mins, But a well spent. I was to happy to go in the casnio. I can go anytime.Seeing
Brandy was a win win deal

Good day everyone...Sorry to hear about all of your troubles Sailor07.Hope everything will work out for you.Have you tried to get a message to your son through the Red Cross concerning your other son?Just a thought!Best of luck which ever way it works out.Our prayers are with you..

Joe,did you ever find out which airport your daughter was flying into?I forgot to ask James which one he flew into,but i was trying to text him this morning to ask,but he is not answering back so he must be kinda busy at this moment.Hopefully Brandy will call you before she leaves O'Hare today to let you know her itenirary.Just a guess,but you might want to find the USO at the airport if you don't know her flight and see if they can help you.I would think all military would go there since it is like a refuge for ppl. who are new to this kind of thing.Just a suggestion!The airport is GulfPort/Biloxi int.airport my son thinks... bye for now..

down to about 22 hrs. And my little girl will be leaving Great Lakes in on her way to Gulf Port
Cant wait to hear & see her. I hope I can get a peek or two at the airport ! ol well who knows

Got 3 more days in my daughter will be in Gulfport I'm going to the airport friday night. just to get a peek at her went she get off the plane .In her dress whites, who knows I might win big at the casnio? Well sound good . But A real good chance I lose big But seeing Brandy (Niki) would be a win win ride over I hope everybody doing great with there son/ daughters Thank for the support

Hey Ed... Sounds like Eddie is settling in fine.That should be a huge worry off of your mind.Two weeks now,or something like it !

Got a call from James yesterday,talked for about 15 or 20 minutes.He still has about2 weeks before ECS starts.He was moved to to handing out PPE to the personnel that are starting ECS right now.He also is having to do P.T. on his own since he is passing out gear when the units do P.T.He,like Eddie is not real thrilled about missing out so he has been running and exercisingjust like regular P.T. plus going to the gym and lifting.Says no way is he not going to be ready for the next step of training physically.From what he says he will be on his way to Port Hueneme in about 6 weeks.I guess he has ran into several of his shipmates from G.L. here in the past week or so.I know he was spending a fair amount of time hanging out with guys from "A"school that he had met before his graduation.

Well time to go for now .You atke care and i'll chat with you later..

Seabees Continue Building Promising Futures During Deployment

CORINTO, Nicaragua (NNS) -- Seabees currently assigned to Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) began renovating a local school July 11 in support of Continuing Promise 2009 (CP09).

Seabees from Construction Maintenance Battalion Unit 202 began replacing the roof and doors to the school, installing insulation and doing electrical work at the Villa Nueva school, said Construction Electrician 2nd Class Darren Shubert, a Seabee and Comfort crew member.

Groups of approximately 20 people have been working on the project and will continue working until July 14, when Comfort is scheduled to depart.

"I've had a lot of fun out here so far," said Construction Mechanic 1st Class Gregory Blake. "This is a great project. It's very worthwhile, and the kids are a lot of fun. It's definitely rewarding to come out and help people who really need it."

CP09 is a four-month humanitarian and civic assistance mission through Latin America and the Caribbean. The U. S. military, non-governmental organizations, foreign national military and host nation personnel work together to provide a variety of free medical, dental, veterinary and engineering services to local communities.

The Seabee detachment aboard Comfort has offered its services in each country the ship has visited, performing various tasks that range from renovating pharmacies and school houses to constructing new school rooms, installing security fences and even renovating basketball courts.

"I'm really glad I got the opportunity to participate in this mission," said Schubert. "I've learned a lot and seen a lot of things that I would never have had the chance to see otherwise. It's an amazing feeling of accomplishment to look at a finished project that you had a hand in and know that it will actually make people's lives better."

Nicaragua is Comfort's last stop in the CP09 mission. Comfort and her crew also visited Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, Panama, Colombia and El Salvador.

Hey Steve, i figured it out, that the Navy would not really offer any help... Oh well..... i found a company to ship it for $580.00.....and it's a big auto shipper... Eddie said the barrick's are nice lives on the 5th floor.....

He has not said anything about the nite life yet......but he did say the beach was beautiful, and had 3 x's more people on it then GP did when we were there.....

It is funny though, he called and said "dad can you believe they make use pay, for cable if we want it"...I LMAO, and could say only one thing...welcome to the real world!!!!!!!!!!!

He did say the Base was huge, the NEX is 3 minles way from his barrick.....LOL

as far as PT he said they wake up for it but the commanders don't make them do anything, he is not really happy with that....So he has been doing some training on his own......

And i can only say i remember those day's of being at the ball field's all week end.....in the Texas sun....glad it's just a memory!!!LOL
