Good day Ed. I was talking to James at the end of the Memorial day week-end and he said that he had met one of his friends family there for a visit. He mentioned your names so when i saw your first post,I remembered the names he had mentioned so I called him and asked about it.Ed just happened to be standing there with him when I called and I think they both got a good chuckle out of it.
Sounds like there is quite a bit for the kids to do around there to keep themselves busy. Did Ed go skydiving last week-end with James?I never did ask who all went. From what James said it just blew his mind with the rush of bailing out of the bird. When he said he just couldn't explain it I just laughed at him and said"I can".That got him!Yes James has been sending me a few pics of their daily lives.
As far as James helping others, that has always been what he was taught. He did a lot to help his little brother and i know that is why Steve "JR." hehehe.... misses his big brother so much.
I think there will be a little partying going on here also when James gets home. The girls reserved a condo at Seabeck so that the ten of us could spend some time together before James heads back for ECS in July, mother, father brother, sisters, grandparents. He also has to spend a couple of days with the recruiter doing some things for the Navy.Add in a short(couple of days) bike ride, visiting friends and just hanging out and i think his time is pretty well taken up!
Yes,that is the one thing about being in the military, friends and people you meet along the way, memories that will last a lifetime. Well time to go get some things accomplished around here before it gets to late. You take care and have a great week.
Steve !!!!!!!

Hi Ed... Yes,they are going to graduate on the 23rd.My daughter explained to me that James is telling everyone that it is the 26th so that he can surprise everyone on the 23rd. My oldest daughter is going to pick him up when he gets up to either PDX or SeaTac,
As far as James having experience, yes he has a bit of time burning rod.He spent 4 years in Highschool in weld shop as an elective and earned 29 college credits from the time he did in shop.He also entered in welding competitions here on the west side of the state. It is something he loves to do and i haven't seen to many ppl. with the flow in their welds that he has.
Anything special planned when Ed gets home in 13 days? Not gonna be much time to spend with our boys before they have to turn around and head back for ECS.
Well i have been long winded enough for now at least. You take care and i'll talk at you later.
Steve !!!!!!

Hi Edward,my son also is in Gulf Port as a SW,but think his grad date was the 26th of June although i could be wrong about that. We were unable to see him over Memorial day and it was a little to expensive for him to fly home for just a couple of days.I do know that once he got to phase two things got a lot better for him. Also,he spends quite a bit of time in the gym lifting.
Has your son heard where he is going after A school? How is he doing in school?Hope he is doing good.

Hi My son RJ is currently in Gulfport Miss. He has been to Kuwait and Guam. When he was In Kuwait, he was in charge of Safety and Security on the base. He even had his name on a billboard. My hubby was a Boatswain Mate on the USS Fulton , located in Groton, Conn before it got decommissioned. My father was in the Navy during WWII, my grandfather during WWI. I have no clue what exactly they did, except they were both on ships. I was going to join the NAvy, but since I wasn't a swimmer, I decided against it. Instead, I joined the Army Reserves as a Dental Tech but never made it to "A" school at Fort Sam, Texas because I didn't make it out of basic training. I thought it was so cool that RJ joined the NAvy. In fact, if I had the am't of support when I joined, that RJ got when he joined, I think I could've made a go of it. My mother wasn't too thrilled about it at first. But before I went to basic, I went 1 weekend a month to reserves, where I worked in the Dental clinic at the VA hospital in Albany NY.
Thank you for letting me share my thoughts.

Welcome NavyDads And Proud Parents of Seabees.
Our son joined the Navy in February of this year and has been in Gulf Port "A" school since April 10th as a SW.He seems to be taking to the Navy pretty good, getting into the hands on portion of the training, but doesn't care much for the classroom work. We're hoping he will be home the end of June.
Where is your son stationed and how long has he been there? Has he been at just one duty station or has he had more than one?
Tell your son thank you for his service to our country and best of luck.
Steve !!!!!!!!
