Seems my sons ability to communicate has dropped a lot the last month, he's about half way through deployment also. Hmm?

Comment by Steve Hilty on October 20, 2011 at 7:28pm

Well we're at the halfway point on our son's deployment to the sandbox. He has learned a lot and works a lot. He recieved his SCWS pin with a lot of studying and is now helping other guys study for theirs. Communication from his FOB has a lot to be desired but we do get a few words here and there. We look forword to seeing him back in Gulfport.

Rick, My son is attached to Gulfport and they have regular scheduled PT but I think the intensity is how the individual interprets it. I don't think it will compare to what Army or Marine troops go through.

My son arrived in Port Hueneme 24 September, ready and eager to start learning. He said he thought PT would be more intense while there. Is that generally the case?

I text my son daily (almost) and he sends text back every few days. Its free for him using Ipad and free app. Fast, but can't text pics, so we email them to him. He does FB but I don't. Expecting return to states from A'stan in feb - mar.  Hes up for E3 so everything is new to him.

Dan,Steve, as far as the shape of the equipment I have no idea. James never said anything about it one way or the other.James was at FOB Wilson his whole time in-country aside from about 2 weeks in transfer to and from Afghanistan plus about a month outside on projects.Dan,we only did the vid. thing the one time and it wasn't with skype. James, with the help of his brother-in-law were able to set up I think a Yahoo video chat. There was some delay on the video, but after not seeing him for quite a while it was all good!!!!!!!!!
