Welcome Steve! :) My son is a BU, and his school was in Gulfport, Mississippi... and it was like 5 or 6 weeks.. wasn't too bad.. Zach said it was like a 9-5 job for the most part and all the instructors were really decent, unless you messed up..

My son just arrived at Ft Leonard Wood for EA "A" school. Anyone been there or through the school? How long does it last?

Sailor07,that is one of the things we here look forward to most every week are the phone calls.... I am sure that they are just fine over there, but at the same time as parents we still worry just a little bit.then again maybe some of us worry a little too much{:-) Just need to trust in them ,their training and the troops they have a round them.I know I go onto James units facebook page every couple of weeks to see how they are doing and to try to see what pics I can of our son!! Well, hope everyone has a good day!

Sailor -- if you go to estripes... there is a "link" that will give you a map of all the "bases" of Iraq and Afghanistan.. it really helps!! granted the exact locations aren't on there.. but gives us dads a better idea of where our kids are!!! :) let me know if you can't find it.. I downloaded it on my pc and would email it to you if you want.. Dan@DLThomasProductions.com ... the stars and stripes has been a newspaper for the military by the military and civilians since WWII-- when I was in the Army.. this was all we read!!! Great articles about stuff... :) thanks!

Hey Sailor.. yea, I know what you mean.. I do NOT even watch network news anymore! It is so amazing the stories they do report on. I watch - AFN (Armed Forces Network).. this is put out by the Armed Services.. and this is what the services all watch too... some GREAT WORK is being done by the men and women in uniform!!! :) also I read eStripes.com (the military newspaper - Stars and Stripes) Definately read some great things about what the men and women do.. they even ran a piece a while back about the Seabee's! :) Mine is leaving shortly............:(( for his stint!

Hey all, hope everyone is good...Dan,hope all goes good for your son.As far as the nerves, they will run a bit thin, but yes very proud !!!

Sailor07,how is your son doing so far? I don't think he has been in country to long has he?At the very least he is getting there when the temps are a bit cooler than the middle of summer.I know James went thru a long stretch where the temp got up around 120 to 125 degrees!! So far 4 down and who knows how many more !!!

Jean, hope all is good with you all.... As for deployments I personally have known very little peace. It wasn't to bad as long as air det was working behind the wire.. At least we could talk once in a while, but when they went outside the wire, for me it was the worst, longest stretch of time I have went thru in years as there is no coms what so ever..For right now at least we can relax as James called this eve and they are back at the fob..... Even though they are well trained and I trust their training we still worry!!!!!!!

Good night all and may all of our young ones have wonderful times and pray for their safe return!!!!

oops Dan,,, this is Jean/ Arts other half =) I forget that we both come on here. I've been with Navy 4 Moms since it started, and it's been a life saver - to be able to chat with others "going thru the same thing" has been a godsend.
I can't say enough for the Seabees - they are a group unto themselves, and are so well trained that it brings peace and satisfaction when they are on deployments.

Thanks Art! :) You would be the one we would talk to then for the ???'s :) heheheh --- I need to log on to N4D more often than I do... this site has really helped me when the boy was in GL ... but now he has his deployment orders.... i need to come back here for peace!! :)

Hi all - been awhile since I've been here too. My bee just reached his
"20 year mark", and has enjoyed it all. He's heading to Japan next year, so am thankful it's not "over there". He's done Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan. Stay strong Sailor,,I know it's tough on the nerves for Mom. They are a strong group!!
Welcome to Dan and Jon....... we DO have the best! My son is a BU
and has done just about everything, all over the world. Enjoy, and be Navy strong!!

Sailor0p7- good to see you!!
