Hi Paul... Yes he did and thank you! I think he will be up to the task of following in a lot of pretty big footsteps. When he takes on a task he has a tendency to put his all into it.Nothing left in him when he is done!I don't think I have seen him this happy in doing a job in a long time.

Good day everyone...Well,James is now officially a Naval Sea Bee.He graduated yesterday afternoon from ECS and flew out of Gulf Port at 1700 hours yesterday eve.He called at 2330 hours and said he was back where he belonged, the West coast. His journey continues!

Jim,that's good to hear about Anne. Not sure what THU is,but i am guessing it is some sort of hold unit.I know out of almost 5 months in Mississippi James had a total of 3 months of classes. So the age old adage of hurry up and wait still applies the the military.Gotta love it !Please keep us updated on Annes progress and give her a big Bravo Zulu next time you talk to her.

Hey Joe,I agree. No way one can learn construction in 8 weeks, but what they will probably work with them on is basics such as the math formulasangles and the such.Once they get to their regular unit they will apply those lessons with the things they are going to be doing with more knowlegeable troops in their unit that have been doing the kind of construction they will be dealing with.Everything i know about building, roofing, and concrete i pretty much learned working with others.Just gotta want to learn!Woodworking, forget it as i don't have the patience to build cabinets or anything like that!

As far as the branches training together, the main reason i believe is to save money.I know in the 70's we had troops from the Air Force and Marines training with us in jump school. To this day i think Ft. Benning is the only jump school the military has, although i could be wrong about that as that was 30 some years ago.....hhhmm like 35 years ago!Well time to go for now.About time to go do a little carpentry myself and saw some logs{:-)

Niki told me they has people from the army & air force doing training in building at Gulfport
You would think each branch of service would have there own base? But she say some of the people
in the army wish they joint the navy! Well I guess not every body can joint the navy I'm glad our
kids was able to get in the navy!!!!!!!! I been in const for 32 years has a trim carpenter . and no way you canlearn the basic in a week are two . (cut a board or pour a side walk ) read a book I know you need hands on training. 8 weeks to learn woodworking, roofing, bricklaying,
cement work ? in 8 weeks

Well i know when i went to GP, there were all the other branch's there....I would guess they use all branch base's to train and hold battalion's...I knpw Eddie is in Virginia, and has said they have people from all the branch's there also........

Can't guess what the goverment is thinking!!!!!!

Hi Jim.. No idea! I gave up years ago trying to guess the ways of the military.... I do know that a few years back they consolidated many of their operations, but not why an Air Force base{:-)

Hi Jim...Anne said she was going to "A" school to be a U.T. From what i have read the training is conducted at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls,Texas. From there chances are she will go to Gulf Port for ECS,although there are some instances where that will not happen.Edward and i have had more than one conversation about that{:-)
Well,to all have a good week-end and hope to talk later !

Steve !!!!!!!!!!
