Pat, its appropriate you placed a picture of the USS RR. I believe today is the anniversary of the tearing down of the wall after the famous Ronald Reagan speech, "Mr. Gorbachzek (sp), tear down that wall"

we had an early thanksgiving for my son this pass sunday, since he is leaving for basic on Nov. 16. my brother in law gave thanks before we ate. i told him not to get emotional during his little speech. well, this didnt happen. i looked to my left and noticed his eyes tearing up. Then, i looked to my right and saw my wifes eyes tearing up. i looked in front of me and noticed my sons eyes tearing up. as soon as i saw his, i just lost it. i could not stop. i had to leave the dining room. it took me about 10 minutes to regain my composure. i went back to the dining room. i glanced at everyone. everyone looked fine. the wet eyes that i thought i saw, were not there anymore. just then did it hit me, they were my eyes that i was seeing through. im gonna miss you my son. im so proud of you...................

We finally got a call last Sunday. He is doing fine. Enjoys cooking on the frigate and seeing a new part of the world. He did a little mountain exploring and saw wild monkeys. His email is working so we can share pictures with each other. I'm so proud of him and envious of the adventure he is having. I've never been more than about a thousand miles from where I was born and he is almost half a world away. I hope and pray that your sailors are well and enjoying their lives too!

hey grandpa273,even though I dont like Letterman as much as I used to I listened to the deep fried butter top ten.It was pretty good, the great thing about being from Texas is we can make up a better top ten than those up north.
