Con gratulations to all the new graduates, Parents, and friends. My son Eric, left this past Wednesday for his first duty. We had a great two weeks together on his leave. We went to the San Jac. Monument, the USS Texas, the Lone Star Flight museum, and the Aquarium at Moody Gardens. He is a CS on the frigate USS DeWert. He called this afternoon with his new address. We are all so proud of him and cant' wait to hear of his travels. May God Bless and keep all your sons and daughters as well!

My son, Justin graduated MAA School this past Friday (July 24, 2009). It seems like a long time since he left for boot camp, but the past 4 months really flew by. He is home for 2-weeks, then off to Bahrain. We are SOOOOO proud of him and he is very excited!

Kevin, I watched my son's PIR, 6-12-09, again last night. I got choked up just as many times as when I was there. I'm glad I got some good still shots then, because the video didn't show my son at all. He was always obstructed by another sailor. They did include about 3 minutes after liberty call.

Thanks Jean, but you never know. I hear that sometimes they change the date of the graduation for whatever reason. All I can do is know that there must be a reason. I may not understand it now, but hopefully I will later. It turns out I will be in Denali National Park and I would have to try to somehow get to Fairbanks to catch a flight out. I'm not even sure if they have a flight that day or if I can even get to Fairbanks. Pretty sure there are no rental cars in Denali. This whole thing just sucks. The silver lining is the fact that his brother can now attend. He, of course, is thrilled. They are very close. Funny, I guess you can find good in everything if you look hard enough.

ROYI'm so sorry you will miss your sons PIR because it is probably the most emotional, proud moment of my life. My sons PIR was this past July 2nd. However, your son can order you a DVD of the entire ceremony! My son ordered me one even though I was there. I hear they do a fabulous job of filming the graduation.
