We finally got the "BOX" yesterday. Life is moving forward, We are so proud of our son for his decision to join the NAVY!!!
He's a nuclear rated machinist mate on the USS Tennessee.
Just heard from my son today. He's received the NAM Achievement Medal for his performance on his last deployment. BZ son.
Recently visited my son in Charleston. He is in the middle of Nuke power school. Sure am proud of him and all he has accomplished so far, what a year! He has if final PFA coming up before his ST-21 review. He is hoping to get a perfect score, nobody has done it in a while at his command.
Any other Dad's with sons on the USS Columbia / SSN-771?
I can’t help but be a little nervous today. My son and his class is going through their final test finishing up their A school in Great Lakes. I don’t know much about it other than if he successfully completes this it will be on to Navy Dive School. When I last spoke to him Monday I could hear the tension in his voice. I just tried to let him hear the confidence in my voice and my words that he would be successful this week. That the determination he carried in him would make him endure and complete this phase no matter what. I raised him to never let anything hold him back. This I am supremely confident in. I said a prayer this morning for God to strengthen him to prepare him mind, body and spirit for the things he must endure and give his all. I have not heard anything yet.
Bert, I certainly know what you mean about 'busting' with pride. It was a very special day for us when our son graduated. The next day he was sent to Submarine School in CT., so our time with him was short but most meaningful.
