Welcome To Our Sailors Art Gallery

It's something about Sailors and tattoo's. My son has been tatting up since in the Navy. I have none but he just got his second. I'm curious if anyone else's child has gotten a tattoo since joining the Navy. I know that Sailors have been known for tattoo's and my son is carrying on the tradition. This group is to show off your Sailors tattoos. I think we will call this our Sailors Art Gallery.

hello folks...Just reading all of the comments about your sailors tattoos and thought i would add a pic of my son James "family" tattoo. All of the guys over the age of 18 in the Baker family have one.Only thing is James made his a little more elaborate than the rest of us.It started out as a tribute to all of the family members in our Elk hunting group that have passed away.
Wish i had a pic that was a little brighter, but oh well.

Cindy..I agree he does need to find something better to do...I could understand if itwas something artistic, but not just his intials...LOL

But what are we to do.................Nothing!!!!!!

I am sure he probably went with a friend and just decided to do something, and that is what he ended up with........

My thing is to waste money like that...gggrrrrrrr........I like TAT"S my self, but come on!!!!!!!!!!LOL

Thanks for letting me rant.....

Take care

I'm not 100% sure. I just remember that being said. Maybe it's for those who go to the Naval Academy.

Anne ~ Those are very nice, but I think you're crazy! You must have a very high pain tolerance. That's why I just think about getting one. I hate needles. However, should I ever go for it, where's the least painful place to get a tat?

Edward ~ Me thinks your son should find something else to do when he's bored! I guess on the positive side, he could always give a different answer when asked what the E and G stand for!

Cheryl ~ If I remember correctly, and it's been a while, as long as the tats don't show in uniform it's ok. I'll have to find out for sure. Got me wondering now. It wasn't important at the time, so I didn't let it sink in. Morgan had the outline of a small dragon on his chest when he joined. He's got a big one on his back now. It's the corpsman insignia with a minor twist. I can think of better ways to spend $300!

Was your son excited when he arrived back in port? I think it's such a huge thing for these sailors to get their first underway under their belt. That's when they begin to feel like they are a sailor...I think ;) My Morgan, I don't know that he'll get an underway. He's on the 'green side' on the outside. On the inside, he's all 'blue'...Navy. The Marines do things differently.

Well, Evan currently has four in the Navy this far. His ship just ported in Singapore which is know for their tats. This is were he got FAITH on his side. I'm sure I'll be posting some new tats in here after his port.

Cindy about the officers and tats, I have no idea. I would think most in the Navy have more than one tat. If for some reason you cannot have tats and be an officer, then my son is screwed!

i aked why he did that...he said: he was bored on base.......WTF i thought to myself, but if that's what he wanted.......LOL

Anne...that looks like koi fish.

E.G. or Cindy...that's funny. Do ya think, once Evan's out, he'll go from "faith to fat"!

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong. I thought if you wanted to become an officer, you couldn't have any tats showing. The Navy looked down on that.

Morgan's not really into the tats. Just has his two and his second one was while he was in A school in GL.

I do think about getting one...just haven't decided what or if it's really worth it. I hate needles. Cindy, we could get a really small one, that's hidden, just to say we have one. What do you think! I'd want something Asian. Good thing I'm not porting into Singapore =O

Kathleen, too funny! I told my son a similar thing. I told him when he hits his late 50's that the Faith on his side is going to read Fat. LOL I have managed not to have had the urge for a tat but who know's, I might end up with a NavyDads.com tat before all is said and done.

Everyone remember in this group. Don't just tell about your Sailors tats, show them off in here ( post a pic of them ). If you go back in the older post, you will see our Sailors artwork.

When I was thinking about getting my first ink a nurse I worked w/said... "you won't be able to tell what it is when you're 80". I told her I didn't care if you could tell what it was when I'm 80. They can be very addicting... There are about 3 more that I want to get... All will continue to be where you can't see them w/clothes on...

The only advice I gave my son was to keep them above the knees and elbows. This way they would be covered in shorts and t-shirt. The Navy is not fond of them before they enlist but once in I don't think they care. My advice made it thru A school, anchor tat on back, to San Diego, no tats, to Singapore, tat on his side that says faith from arm pit to waist, then once back in S.D. my advice was thrown out the window. He has a tat from his elbow to his wrist that says Loyalty along with rosemary beads around the wrist. He is planning on doing a sleeve on that arm. Oh! by the way! He is about to port in Singapore again were they are known for their tattoo's. I'll keep you posted if any new ones pop up which I'm sure they will. He has explained like many have before him, that tats are addictive. Their body, they will live with them. I'm just glad I'm not having to pay for all his artwork.
