HOOYA Dan!
We received a letter from my son's commander (USS Alexandria) stating my son had been awarded silver dolphins. We are hoping to get a call from him soon but his calls home are few and far between.
Nukes go strait to ship assignment after the nuclear pipeline. They don't go to BESS. The only exception is if they get Nuke welding or ELT school after the pipeline. Then they would go to their ship.
Following waves and fair winds to your son.
my son joshua is just about done with basic. he was suppose to go togoose creek for his nukes A-school after graduation. We just learned in a letter he has volunteered for sub duty. Does anyone know if he will go to sub scool first or will he go to nukes first? Just tring to keep up with his whereabouts.
Congrats to your son! my son got his fish last february, and is on track to testing for 2nd Class, ET ! I know how proud you all are. We all should be proud of these young men putting themselves in harms' way under 1,ooo feet of water like that. Kings Bay is nice = Jax, St. Augustine, and Savannah just down the road. My son in law may get stationed there as well. Hope i didn't transgress any security issues here. Purge this if i did. Sic semper Tyrannis !
Hello all,
My son passed his boards at Goose Creek Saturday. He got his orders a week before to USS Tennessee blue crew the week before. He's planing on moving to Kings Bay as soon as Hurricane Irene quits messing with everyone's head. He's an MM and looking forward to the move with his wife.
Hi everyone,
Just thought I would take a moment to pass on some info. I have a 19 (soon to be 20) year old sailor, currently trying to get his Dolphins. The news from home is he lost a childhood/highschool friend this weekend. His friend Sam was found dead in his dorm room, at VA Tech, this weekend (we suspect alcohol contributed). Please pass on to each of your sailors a warning of the consequences of bad judgement and thinking that they are emmortal.
I know my son found out what an Irish bar was like, when he went overseas last year. Fortunately, he knew when to stop. I always worry about the peer pressure that can sometimes cloud their judgement, just re-assure them to always remember what my wife always says to our three sons: "If you think it might be wrong, it is wrong, DON'T DO IT"
We are all very proud of our sailors and trust that they will do the right thing, but a gentle reminder once in a while, doesn't hurt. Please keep the Wendler family in your prayers. Randy
Ok all...Michele sent me this link...amazing video you must watch
