90 I can handle, seems to be the norm here this year. Now if it frosts, that would be a bonus for me. I'm tired of all this heat we have been having.

Took a motorcycle trip this past weekend from NC to Ga for a POW/MIA event called "The Ride Home" great weekend but hot weather, im glad most of the event was inside a really large air conditioned tent. The up side was IT DIDN'T RAIN!!! Down side, there really wasn't any ;)

Hmmm??? post vanished???

Hey Greg, Michael just returned from his 1st "cruise" (really short, just watch proficiency stuff) then the boat is going into DD -- gettin' some new super-secret (emphasis mine) toys...

Hi John, first autumn weekend in New England; might be 90+ or it might frost? We just don't know -- but it keeps life *interesting*

Reader's Digest - Humor in Uniform:
Michael said a chief noticed he is from Connecticut so he asked him why he chose a specialty that puts him on the only class of boats that are never based in CT? My son said his answer made the senior smile...

I`ll be on the way to Groton next Thursday Sept. 23rd to attend my sons BESS graduation. Its only been a couple months since I last saw him, but we miss him terribly. He left a kinda scrawny boy but is developing in to a fine young man. Cant wait to see him.

My son is on his first deployment, due back to Groton in December. As his father, not knowing what he's doing is difficult. Can't wait for homecoming.

Thanks ctyankee, Iv been waiting on him to call, guess he is busy settling in. We want to plan on going to Groton for a visit soon as he gets his liberty to go off base. Soon as he can give me an address I will be able to send his cell and lap top.

We look forward to the visit not only to see our sailor but to see the sites.
Thanks again for the reply.

Hi John,

It's my understanding that most of the guys will subscribe to the local Charter Cable to get high-speed. One of a pair of roommates generally. Despite Charter's generally bad reputation, the base command has forced the company to toe the line or face consequences; so their service is pretty good.

We enjoyed Michael's time at Groton, because he was only 90 min away we got to see him the weekend after he arrived. There is plenty to do/see near Groton. Within a few weeks his liberty radius increased and he could come home.

Groton is a small base and BESS goes by very quickly... (or maybe it just seemed that way to us).

Then he was at Kings Bay, GA (KB) with Greg's son (they were on various paintball teams I believe) as well as MT school.

His mom drove with him back from GA to CT, and I drove with him from CT to WA. He's now on the Kentucky Blue crew.

P.S. Greg, be prepared to get all of your son's paintball stuff back once he gets to Bangor. As I said, it's some pretty cool hardware. ;^)

Well I just got a news flash from my sons girl, she forwarded an e-mail from him saying he was already in Groton, got there last night sometime. He also told her he was going to call me to send his cell phone and lap top. So far I haven't heard from him, but then again he might not know what his address is there yet. Seems BESS starts next Monday. It will be good to hear from him more so I will get his electronics sent to him ASAP.

Do they have wi-fi there or will he have to subscribe to a service?

John
My son was sent to Groton back in Oct last year after BC, for about a week or so he was busy getting settled in then after that he was calling home and going out with his friends daily, we sent him his laptop and were able to Skype with him on line on a regular basis.
He has since moved onto MT school in Kings Bay Ga and will grad from there soon, he says he got orders to the USS Louisiana based in Bangor.

Little bit of hard work never hurt anyone....lol.. he actually gained 10 lbs while in BC. I was just hoping to hear from him soon as there wasn't much time for him to call home during BC.
Thanks for the quick reply.
