Hi ctyankee - I have found that the quals look like a lot when they first get there but the process to qualify seems to unfold and they get it done.

Wow, A whole week since we stopped at Mt. Rushmore on our journey to deliver Michael to Kitsap.

I suppose they keep them really busy now that he has a boat, as opposed to classes. He said he's got an awful lot to learn to get his quals.

Ken,
Great story on the Tiger Cruise. How do you go about finding out how to do one of these cruises? I talked to my son, who is aboard the Olympia, based in Pearl Harbor said he hadn't seen any of this aboard his boat.

Ken,
Thanks for sharing the story of your time on the Cheyenne. This has been most helpful in helping me prepare for my Tiger Run coming up on the Alaska!

Thanks for the opportunity to read about and see the pictures of the Tiger Sub.

My son got his orders today! He'll be joining the USS Kentucky on the Blue crew sometime after graduation in June. That's gonna put him just about 2,937 miles west of home, until he's on a cruise.

Can anyone venture a guess when that might be? We're wondering if he'll be able to come home on leave before he moves to the west coast.

Ctyankee,

sorry i didn't send a link - as i said before, i am a computer cro-magnon. the above is the link the guy who wrote the software posts, with out you having to go through any third parties. Yes, they do have a special address while underway. It is all so amazing how this man worked to make it all possible. Hope this link works. if not , let me know, o.k. ? Cordially, john sr.

Hi John,

Sailor Mail -- that was an informative link, thanks!

When they actually deploy, do they get a new and unique e-mail address?
Naturally, we've been communicating via Facebook and text messages :^) I'm certain the loss of those fora are going to have a *devastating* impact on the ability to drop a quick note; such is the nature of duty.

Dear Bubblehead's Family Members,

My son just sent his THIRD email from his sub - What a Blessing! I called the software designer of Sailor Mail, and he was a great help to me, a computer Cro-Magnon. Hope your Sons are doing well on their respective Boats. Just thought I'd say hello, and thanks for all of your support.
