This is my uncle's account of his time on board USS Nevada (SSBN-733) during a week long tiger cruise from San Diego, CA to Bangor, WA. This also happened to be my last time ever underway on a…Continue

Today is my son's last day in the USN. He performed his five year contract for submarines and decided that was enough for him. I tried to convince him to stay in, as did his cousin and an uncle…Continue

Glad you had a good visit.. Must be something to see the boat your son is on come in..
Just spent a nice week in Hawaii with the family after meeting my son on his return to port on Thursday 5/30. It was great to see the kid again and see the boat come in. Go Badfish.
not a problem Antonio, our son has been on his boat for just over a year now and is currently on deployment, we have very good e-mail communication with him, the only time he doesn't answer is when they are on 'mission' where they minimze radio transmission, but even then he still recieves what we send, it's just a one way conversation... : ). he usually doesn't have much to say, but i know he loves to hear from us, i would strongly encourage everyone out there to message their sailors.
Thanks Darryl, I think that is our problem. The originai email that he gave us had an extra "smil". Thanks again.
Antonio, make sure you are using the right e-mail, i know our son gave us the wrong format initially..., your sailor's should look something like this,' xxxxxxx@newmexico.navy.mil', if i remember right, we had one too many '.mil' on the end. good luck.
Hotmail is officially dead: Microsoft shifts to Outlook
We used hotmail to email my son; however, that stopped working about 3 weeks ago and we switch to gmail. It's like hotmail can't find the email address.
Kid is back in port at The Pearl. And yes, we are here with him.
My son has always used his Gmail account. No problems getting or receiving any of his emails. Mailing stuff to him (like in Hawaii) was another story, until I found out the address for the submarine he was on. Much better!!
Congratulations. I am the father of an FT. When my son was home he briefed me on what had to be done to get everything signed off. That is a really big step.
